Default Seeking support

Hi guys,

My name is Kate im 19, I joined this forum today, pretty much seeking some support. The last few weeks have really put things into perspective for me. Its not just about wanting to lose weight anymore, its the need to lose it. My little brother asked me the other day, why are you so fat? I was devestated at the time had a cry and got over it. But the thing that has scared me to death is, my cousin had a heart attack a few days ago, he has only recently turned 21, the doctors say it has a lot to do with his weight. So I have decided that I am going to do something about it and stick to it. I have tried various times in the past and failed. But I am willing to give this a fair crack, put 110% in!

hello kate,
well your taking the first most important steps here by one posting here and getting some support for yourself. having support of others is a great thing to help you out on your journey. also take it slow take baby steps with this because if you want to lose weight and keep it off permantly it is a life long change. i have lost about 60 pounds after i had my first child and i did it over a course of a year or so. i just changed my eating habits i didnt starve myself i just ate healthier. i didnt skip any meals at all i had my 3 meals a day and even had a couple of snacks in between. just healthy stuff no processed foods or sugars. i ate whole grain breads no white breads and had lots of raw veggies and fruits and drink lots of water that also helps in weight loss. i also excersised everyday. not alot but i walked every morning. i have 3 dogs so that helped me with my walking. i just stuck to it i wasn't happy about it at first and was very discouraged but when i finally started to see some results that was encouraging enough for me to keep going on. it got to a point if i didn't take my walk i felt out of sorts. also i had a little reward system for my self. for every 10 pounds i lost i treated my self to something sweet like a small sunday or small piece of cake. but that was it after that i kept up on the healthy eating and walking. well good luck with you and keep us posted on how your doing......

Default wheigh ins..

the best you can do for yourself when you want to start your serious diet and exercise is to keep a scale in the bathroom.you can weigh yourself every morning if you find that you have lost even the slightest amount of weight fight hard to keep it off(but dont starve yourself).Get yourself into an exercise routine that you try to force yourself to keep.Im also trying to lose weight but ive realised that its easy to get lazy and slack. What i have done is to set an alarm in the opposite end of my bedroom so wen it goes of in the morning i have to get out of bed and switch it off.Get some exercise buddies who will exercise with you everymorning and who will encourage you to keep going.
What i also did was to get a friend who is fitter than myself who will be a step ahead of me and i always try to catch up with her this has helped me to push myself harder because if you exercise by yourself it can get preety boring and you can end up being too lenient with yourself.
I hope things work out for you please keep me posted on the progress.

Another important thing weight loss is not easy and takes place slowly so dont expect results too soon it might even take up to a year, but you can make it with a lot of commitment.
