LOL You guys are funny! I have been outta commission for a few days and look what happens! LOL! I am so glad to see so many jumpin on the band wagon. I am stuck at 20 lbs. I'm thinking its the evening ****tail a couple times a week that is getting me. I LOVE a good rum and diet after a long day at work. I am a preschool teacher and this years group is definately challenging. I lost a teacher so I am IT. LOL! Talk about excercise.. bending, squatting, moving, jumping.. etc. some days I want to just collapse!

even though I may sneak in a rum and diet at times.. I am still so pleased with this plan. My skin feels great.. I have lots of energy and talk about simple. I make my lunch in the morning and stick it in the freezer at school so by lunch time its nice and frosty. I have lost 20 lbs so far.. and even if I were to stop losing today I think I would still continue the drinks because of how much freakin energy I have. I actually cleaned out my hall closet at 10 pm last night! LOL! It sounds like there are several wonderful ladies that are feeling it too. I already went through my first huge *** bucket of whey and a freezer full of fruit. Keep it up ladies.. don't think of it as a diet.. but something GREAT you are doing for yourselves. 20 lbs over here... its slowing down but you have to also realize that I have 100 more to lose.. and my body is boycotting! Been a big girl for 20 years, oh and Im old. LOL! I'm not to worried tho... cos I FEEL good. isnt that what really counts?
peace out my friends.. I wont be a stranger! Training a new teacher! YAY!

Default Miss Bobbie

I too am a teacher. I teach 4th grade. I have about 120 lbs to lose. It has given me plenty of energy. I found myself cleaning out files, throwing things away and moving things. My kids will say, "Mrs. Brown are you ok?" They know by the end of the day working with them and lugging around 120 lbs that does not belong to me that I am usually in my chair and not picking up and moving things! Keep it up the weight will start to roll back off again.

The only thing I haven't noticed yet is the skin. Mine is still dry and scaly. I haven't seen the shine and smoothness you guys are talking about.

Default 149 calories!

Hello Everyone!
Sometimes last week I made this delicious dish! It is called Red Lentils with Charred Onion. Has only 149 calorie (1 cup). I shared it with a few friends and they just love it! For those who love to prepare their own dinner, willing to try something new, like spice and spicy….give it a try. I saved three cups for my other meals. I had it with white rice…about ¾ cup. If you want more meat (like I did for my husband), I diced a chicken breast and sauté it lightly in olive oil with a little salt. Walla!
Till next time, warm regards from Genie’s Kitchen
Here you go!

Red Lentil Dal with Charred Onions

*Quick-cooking red lentils don't need to be pureed since they break down as they cook. Lentils are a great source of protein, as well as fiber. This recipe gives 20 percent of your daily fiber goal. Serve over brown rice with a side of broccoli for a vegetarian meal.

1 tablespoon olive oil, divided
1 medium onion, cut into 1/4-inch-thick slices
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
1/2 teaspoon coriander seeds
1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
1 whole clove
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground cardamom
1 dried hot red chile
1 tablespoon minced peeled fresh ginger
1 garlic clove, minced
4 cups organic vegetable broth (such as Swanson Certified Organic)
1 cup dried small red lentils
1 (14.5-ounce) can no-salt-added diced tomatoes, undrained
1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
Heat 1 teaspoon oil in a large heavy cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Add onion to pan; cook 2 minutes or until charred. Carefully turn over onion, and cook an additional 4 minutes or until blackened and charred. Remove from heat. Coarsely chop; set aside.
Combine mustard seeds, coriander seeds, cumin seeds, and clove in a small skillet over medium heat. Cook 1 1/2 minutes or until fragrant, stirring frequently. Remove from heat. Combine mustard mixture, cinnamon, cardamom, and chile in spice or coffee grinder. Pulse until ground.
Heat remaining 2 teaspoons oil in a small Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add ginger and garlic to pan; sauté 1 minute. Stir in spices; sauté 1 minute. Add broth, lentils, and tomato to pan; bring to a boil. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Uncover; add onion, and cook 10 minutes. Stir in cilantro and juice.
Yield: 7 servings (serving size: 1 cup)

That recipe sounds great thanks for sharing it. I love lentils, and just in case your wondering, lentils freeze wonderfully. I pre-portion them into containers (I make a different soup with them) and then freeze them. Great to take to work and microwave or pull out at the last minute.
I will be trying your soup tomorrow night...thanks again for the post!

Default not enough soy?

for those of you worried that you're not getting enough protein.. they make protein powders as well. if you enjoy the way your whey shakes taste already.. buy a favorless soy protein powder. that's what i've been doing. today's my second day & i've stuck to the plan pretty easily.

instead of drinking two shakes a day, i drink a shake for breakfast and a protein bar for lunch. such as a detour bar (whey protein). the bars tend to make me feel more full since you are actually consuming solid food rather than drinking liquid.

i'm in for the monday weigh ins :]
