Talking 190 to 150 pounds in 3 months

What I did.
  1. I avoid foods with added sugar.
  2. I avoid saturated fats.
  3. I aviod processed food.
  4. I buy fruit juice with no sugar added.
  5. I keep a brita water pitcher full in my fridge and a pitcher with sugar free store brand crystal light.
  6. I drink green tea. (sometimes I put a little honey in it)
  7. I emptied my cabinets of anything that is remotely unhealthy so that I wouldn't be tempted. Stocked up on canned vegetables, filled my freezer with frozen fruit and I have a basket on my counter in view with oranges, bananas and nuts in it.
  8. I started cooking my dinner with olive oil in a wok. I often try new spices and veggies.
  9. I increased the amount of fruits and vegetables I was eating.
  10. I only eat whole grain carbohydrates, brown rice, that special pasta they sell now.
  11. I stopped eatting meat. I get my protein from beans and nuts. I eat Eggland's best eggs maybe 2 or 3 times a month. I drink a small glass (about 4 ounces) of skim milk with dinner every night.
  12. For breakfast I eat either shredded wheat with skim milk and with, oatmeal with fruit or flaxseed waffles.
  13. I eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches on whole wheat bread. The peanut butter is that Smuckers Natural. It contains peanuts and salt only. The jelly I use is no sugar added, sweetened with fruit juice.
  14. I don't go to the gym. I didn't set time aside and start an exercise program. When it's nice out and a reasonable distance instead of taking my car, I walk. When I walk to places, where ever I am, I walk faster than I normally would. I take the stairs. Just little things I can do in my normal routine.
  15. When I leave the house and I know I will be out for a while, I get a ziplock bag and fill it with dried fruit (without sugar added), fruit, and nuts. So that when I get hungry I am not tempted to buy something from an unhealthy place.
  16. I never eat fast food. I can't remember the last time I purchased premade food from anywhere. If I don't know how it was made, or exactly what is in it, I am not eatting it.
So I pretty much adopted a health lifestyle and the longer I have been doing it, the more I don't miss the foods that I once craved. When I want something sweet, I'll eat an orange or strawberries. I feel great, I have more energy and I have been much happier. Last week I put on a dress I hadn't fit in for many years. I forgot how much I loved clothes and shopping.

Well I hope this helps someone out.

I also wanted to mention that I do eat. When I am hungry I eat. Don't starve yourself. Just make sure what you are putting in your mouth is good for you. Make sure you are getting all the required nutrients. I take a multivitamin every morning.

Hi! I read this post last night and thought it was great, but knowing that my willpower needs a little more work. I went to the grocery store today and was much more aware of the healthier foods. I got my first healthy PB&J today, and hope to continue with these changes. I feel inspired simply by making better shopping choices, but I also wanted to say thanks for posting!

Thumbs up

wow, I admire your strength and will power..different things work for different people I suppose
mine's gonna be at a slower pace, cause at the moment, its tough just to get groceries in the house, with 4 people (the 4th being my 18 month old daughter) with different tastes, its difficult to keep the "right" things around, cuz somebody would end up eating pretty much nothing at all.

congratulations though, I do want to say that, and it has given me some ideas on what I should at least try..

Default Yay!

That's wonderful! I hope you continue to loose if that's what you want or stay where you are. It's always nice when people reach their weight loss goals!!

Once thing I noticed, and I guess for you your okay with it, that you eat all canned veggies. In the long run canned veggies...or anything canned for that matter is not good for your health because they are extremly high in sodium. If you don't want to bother with fresh veggies, which are the best of course, my tip is frozen. If you have room left in your frezer. They taste so much better and are healther by far over canned.

Another thing that works well for me is not getting rid of certian foods, because if i deprive myself from them, I only want them more later and I am more likely to overindulge. If i'm craving chocolate, i eat a few small peices and i'll be okay for a few weeks. You don't have to cut out all sweets, if you make them yourself use splenda, or less of the fatty things, replace with low fat alternitives, so on and so forth. And eat until your satisfied, never until your full.

But the simple fact that you were able to cut things out of your diet and not want them, i commend you!
