Default Agave Nectar Question -help Please

I would relly relly apprieciate any help on this one . Im in the UK and i dont use normal sugar in my tea, coffee ect or baking .

I have to try to keep a little weight on me as i have never had a very big appitite - it can become a problem if i dont watch it ...im loosing a bit of weight again im trying not to let it go under 8 stone ...

I dont like to use normal white or brown sugar in tea and prefer not to use the sweetners that upset your tummy like sacarines ect. So i recently started using AGAVE NECTAR (mild) i use it in tea and it tastes much nicer than normal white sugar , ive used it for about 2 months now , but im noticing my appitite is changing and im losing weight . I am wondering could it be due to something in the agave syrup ??? has anyone heard of this affecting your appitite ? i have quite bit of it as i have many cups of tea ...but im only able to manage one small meal a day ..and a small piece of toast for breakfast .

I have also noticed but thats always been like that , 10 days to n14 days before a period my appitite changes - not hungry at all and for a week after a period which i have just had . I have been thinking of going to a dr to ask if there is anything i could have to stop weight loss during this time , any drinks or foods he thinks i should eat . Does anyone have any advice or could it also be due to the Agave stuff ?

To be honest, i have never heard of it but imagine some have.

Why not try honey? I would always use that if i ran out of sugar, it's nature, sweet.

Can you stomach eggs? At least two of them have 10grms fat, good fat and easy to make in different ways, with toast in the morning.

Must eat..... Or no energy.... even handful of nuts in between, if you really cant stomach eating, eating...during the day...

Hi CW - thanks for reply , i appreiciate it .

I carnt really stomach eggs ! i used to love them (i can eat them in baking, cakes and stuff and biscuits which i do eat ) the reason being when i was in Cyrus and cought that bug years ago , ehn i was about 26 i was so sick with vomiting and diorreah , at the same time, they rushed me off to hospital, when i got back to the UK i had to go into hospital here. I got over it but they said it was that bad, it can kind of affect you for the rest of your life, i mean tummy delicate it took me a long long time to be able to tolerate milk it would just go staight through also eggs , like fried and poched , used to love them but havent been able to eat them since ....and just stay clear of fruit as it aggrivates tummy and that would be fructose which is whats in the Agave ...i should kof worked it out . Ive been having HALF a bottle of agave A DAY, its just all the cups of tea, so its nprob the fructose it it .

I do eat normally, i have bananas, instead of the other fruits , low fat milk in everything although my brother always telling me to have full cream milk from Jersey (thats Jersey, devon, full cream milk ) try it when your in the UK - from Jersey cows --its nice on breakfast cereal ice cold . I eat all nuts , and cakes and buscuits and have salads, fish , makeral, salmon, trout, and herring. Roast lamb and Roast beef with roasties (roast potatoes) with Yorkshire pudding (thats like a batter mix that goes into the oven and rises - its gorgeous with a full roast dinner and gravy and carrot and turnips and parsnips ...on the roast dinner . I have roast chicken (my favourite of all time !) a couple of times a week ! and i love the wings and the parsons nose ! its the tastiest bit
I have puddings afterwards , hot sponges and custards .ect
My favourite is pasta , i love it and i eat spaghetti with meat, a little garlic and lots of mushrooms ...i also eat cheese , sweet cheeses with walnuts, cranberries, or smoked cheeses . I love Italian , Greek and Spanish food . So you see i do eat normally, but not too much, im quite a small person in height and sometimes if im working outside for a number of hours - i do a lot of gardening work - some of it heavy - like laying flagstones or digging for ages or up a ladder doing some topiery or using a patio cleaner ...the point is i can end up doing seven hours of that if i start in the morning, so i think i justmust be one of those people who burns it off ...i dont know.
I do eat - but jsut have to watch it dosent get too low - but round the week or so before a period i just feel sick and afterwards for a week or so - so i just have chicken soups ect ...sometimes the first day or two of period i dont eat that day - igenuinely dont feel like any food .

I have to have some sugar - once before i went to Italy, i went on a diet, you know for the beach, it was the only time in my life i went on a diet , i shouldnt have because i stopped sugar in everything and in my tea ....i just ate grilled chicken and boiled rice for a week . I was also having a period at the same time ...it had a terrible effect and i ended up in observation for the night in hospital - they told me dont do it agin the effect of no sugar and hardly any food .

I snack on stuff like roasted salted Pistachio nuts and i do have a cappuccino maker, so i use milk for that . I noticed last night when i put a shift dress on that its not fitting as well, its hanging a little , some weight loss and the same for other clothes. I havent weight myself because id prefer not to im usually near 8 stone five but i just dont want to go under 8 ...i will take your advice and use the honey in stuff .

I use manuka honey and i put it in yogurts too so il switch and use it in tea . I think the Agave turning my stomach ! - wont use it ..but energy wise ive always had a bit too much , even without much food or perhaps its jsut my metabolism . Thanks for the advice . Cath

Yes i have tried Yorkshire pudding, perhaps though you could post a thread on the recipe?

I do believe that i eat less during that time as well, a bit of period pain can do that to a woman i think?

But i don't feel sick, i have a weak stomach as well, perhaps that it, certain times your stomach can't handle things.

Like everything then, you will have to put away that chicken soup, or add more chicken into it, through in the wings and parsons nose, for the of it and add some vegetables, so you just eat a bit more, dice them maybe real fine so it's easy to digest, swallow without chewing, except your little wings, they are my favourite to.....

I have the same problem, mine probably stress just over 3 weeks to go, and i have dropped size again, now a 9, Australian which is probably a 6 i think in America...

Well, i need those lacy knickers you talked about in another thread to sit well....

Good luck, i can guarantee the honey will taste as good as sugar, and can you also suck barley sugar?

My grandmother i recall always recommended it to keep the sugar levels up....

I'm having lamb roast tonight, i'd invite you over but your too far away

Well thanks again for the advice , i'll do that with the honey, i love honey anyway . Id stop having any sugar in tea and just have it plain but know i need that extra bit so i dont go too low with wieght, i used the Agave stuff jsut as the alternative as i thought it would be better for me , and better than those horrible fake sweetners with the Lactose and the Aspartame in them - alll they do if you have quite a few drinks with those in is upset your tummy . Barley sugar is great, used to have a tim but not for ages ...will get some more.

We seem similar in dress sizes , although a size 6 is really really tiny here, im not sure about US sizes but im a dress size UK 8 dont know what that is over there or is it a 6 in US ??.

I do loose weight through stress ...but half the time i dont realize im stressing ...my mum had made the comment as she said i lost it off my face . My cheek bones are quite high the only problem is if i loose it underneath the cheekbones looks sucked in . But ive seen this happen with other people it can be ageing ...the well woman nurse told me my body mass is right for my size 5 ft 4 . Its just i noticed last night , when i tried my dress on , which i wanted to wear , i looked too thin in it , the hips and the waist ....i could take it in on the machine , but i wont, i'll try and eat a bit more and hopefully now ive stopped the Agave i will go back to the normal size - it just goes up and down all the time ...say the week before a period another week and a bit while ive got the period and one week afterwards , i will loose weight during that ...but then it goes back to just under 8 and half stone . i do love food but i just have small portions ...sometimes i think its better to have several small portions than one big one ...if you catch my drift

I will send you the recipie for the Yorkshire Puds - it is gorgeous hotout the oven ...sometimes i use Aunt bessies mix or get one from Markys (marks and Spencer) just for ease but the homemade ones are always better ....il fish out the recipie for you tomorrow .

Thanks agin for the advice , another thing i carry in my handbag is Gluco tabs , if im running around and you know how you feel a bit weak and faint when you have a period if im in town and i feel it happening - i find a bench and suck one of those to revive me a bit ..the orange flavour ones are lovely...and it works ...so maybe you could try a pack too .

Im now jelous your having roast lamb ...im now hungry at 20 to 2 in the morning !!! crazy !....dont forget the mint sauce !! Thanks again for the advice ....cath x back tomorrow with the recipie,

Just had a quick thought with me mentioning the glucose tabs ...im not diabetic as i did go for a test for that recently and a few times in my life so thankfully im fine there. I know it would prob help if went on the pill but at 40 its not worth it and i am still hope one day to have a baby . I always say ive never been on the pill in my posts but years ago , just after i was raped i was quite stressed and they said perhaps this will ease your mind if you take the pill ???? as the baby thing as well as the rape was hard to deal with and also they said it would be good for periods , it was a brand called microgynon 30 and i took it for a few weeks like they told me to ...they were giving to me and i DIDNT want to take it ...so i threw them all away until i told them ...im not taking it .

So that was it no pill from then , i know it would help to have a shorter period and i wouldnt get overian cysts but they told me its just lots of eggs and its healthy so im happy not to play with nature . They are normal its just ovulation pain and the period with the wieght ....

This week il be in town and i willl make up for it with a bacon sandwhich and two cappuccinos !! from my favourite cafe ..
