Unhappy Concerns about User Name

Hi, I have been trying unsuccessfully to contact the site administrator so that I can change my user name.

I want to do this because my user name is also part of my email address, which potential employers all have access to. When I googled this name, the first hit is my question about missing my birth control pill along with other private information.

I should have more carefully thought about this before I chose this name, but I would really appreciate it if the administrator could assist me with changing it now. If you need another name to choose, I'll go with texastennisgirl09.

Thank you in advance!

Why not change your email address? Or have one just for professional means? I have one with gmail that has my full name.
I don't intend to do any more name changes. All the requests have become ridiculous. Unless you have reason to feel you have threatened your personal safety due to your name choice, please do not ask to have your username changed.

Excellent suggestion. I have several email addresses; personal use, two different business ones and another. I've also used temp addresses that expire in a set time. It's easier to sort your contacts that way. I'm thinking about setting up one just for mechandiser and newsletter contacts as I'm tired of having to sort through so much of it, I don't want to read TechRepublic blogs every single day.

Keep in mind that prospective employers are increasingly looking at Facebook and other social networking sites. I've not dealt with people for business because I've called their phone and they have some overly "cute" or downright foul message on their VM. ANYthing you put out in public, especially on the net, could follow you forever.

Well, the problem is, this is my alias for pretty much everything and it would be very difficult to change all of them. My school email address cannot be changed and many potential employers have that address.

Also, I read in your membership policies that you will change the user name if a person's name or other personal information is included in the user name. My last name is in this user name.

I would really appreciate it if you could please do this for me. I'm not sure why we are not allowed to do this on our own, but I'm sure there is a good reason which I am not aware of. Please consider helping me out in this matter.

Thanks
