There are plenty of other places you can talk about religion. We tend to shy away from here as it is a very personal matter of belief and can cause a great deal of contension. We have members of all backgrounds and beliefs and while it may occasionally figure in someone's choices and concerns, we have not made it a general topic of discussion.

Wasn't it just generally what happens, rather than official policy?

I mean, for example, in the past there were plenty of muslims telling other people that they all deserved , or whatever...

As long as people aren't insulting each other then all is good no? And philosophy is just about the best thing anyone can talk about...

I didn't say it was a policy, just that we have shied away from it. Yes, we've had some instances of people attempting to promote various belief systems and have ended up with some extensive deleating and even banning.

IF people can manage a polite and respectful conversation it can be a great topic. I love to dig into what people believe and why. I find very few who can engage in civil discourse without resorting to the you're going to burn sort of thing.

YEAH! dont they all realize we are all gonna burn anyway

I do agree with you Wildchild, people just seem too intolerant of other's points of view. its one thing to disagree, its another to get all wigged out and nasty about it.

Avoidance of this topic is a big reason I love this site. I don't need anyone to tell me where I am going to go in the "afterlife". Wherever it is I will be with all my buds so I really don't care what anyone else thinks.

Well, that's completely the wrong opinion to have

You SHOULD think it's a great discussion to have!

    FAQ rules of the Forum

    Discrimination
Our site is open registration to anyone, MALE or FEMALE, with a desire to learn about women's health and discuss related topics. Although we direct our content towards women, this is not a site limited to women. Men are also welcome here, provided they stay on topic. We promote opinions from both sexes.

We also do NOT discriminate based on religious beliefs, cultural differences, or race. EVERYONE is welcome here. We simply ask that each member respects the other's values and opinions and does not attempt to force their own on someone else.

In short, yes you can post or create a thread based on your questions or thoughts, however, what WildChild is pointing out is that it usually results in the thread being closed, people being warned, or banned, as inevitably it is a topic of thoughts that "can", provoke strong beliefs and therefore, an attempt to force those beliefs onto others...

Bare that in mind if you chose to pose a question or discuss this subject.

As I prefer not to ban half of the members on this site, I do prefer we stay away from the topic of religion. Philosophy is not such a touchy one, but as it often overlaps it can get heated.
Feel free to start a topic on the subject if you feel you can be partial about it. But I will say that as soon as it starts going south, it will be closed. So you may not get what you want out of it.
