How about having a knowledge base ?

Since there has been a number threads created since the begining,
and a great deal of advices and recommendations given,
wouldn't be a good idea to have a knowledge base for the users ? or even an advanced search engine ?

They would be able to retrieve information of existing threads, and messages based on their respective queries.

One of the quick win would be to reduce the number of repetition of threads when subjects have been dealt with in length.
In order for this to work any way you would require to "advertise" the new feature

Good idea. There have been times that I know something is on here but all a search brings up is group of threads and some are pages long. It would be nice to be able to isolate a topic more specifically.

Yes, indeed.
The current advanced search returns all the threads where the keywords appear.
There are surely a number of ways to go.
One could be to have a knowledge base where the key informations are indexed.
The other way could be to have a "contextual search". The search would not only look after the words you put, but also its linguistic variables.

I do believe that this site has a lot of important and useful informations that are drowning under the threads, and not so crafty posts.
