Default Can a mod please help me?

When I come to this site, I log in first thing, with no problems. I get thanked for logging in, and it redirects me to the forums.

Twice this morning, I spent time replying to a couple of posts. When I was done, I tried to submit and it told me that I wasn't logged in. It's really frustrating because I lose the post I just spent time writing. I know I was initially logged in because it tells me I am. What's going on?

Depending on how long your reply is, if you account sits idle for 20 minutes, you get logged out automatically. With this upgrade, we have had some people say that they are logged out before that.

My suggestion, before you hit the post button, copy your post. That way if you do get logged out, you can log back in and paste it without losing anything or type your post up in notepad or word and copy it over when you are done. After losing a few long posts that you've put time and thought into, it doesn't take long to make it a habit of copying it before you lose it.

I simply highlight my entire post and ctrl C before I click reply.

I have no idea how to do that...I am computer illiterate. How do you write a post before you click reply? Does that question make sense? To reply to someone, you have to hit reply, so how and where do you write it before you hit reply? Sorry if I am sounding stupid, but computers hate me. lol

Look below the last post on the thread. You will see an empty box maker "Quick Reply". Just type in there and then hit the "post quick reply" button to post it.

Opps didn't read the entire thread. Use the "Go Advanced" button, then write your reply - will give you more time.

Oh, okay, so you hit the Reply button at the bottom of each post?

Personally, I don't do that. Like WC said, there is a Quick Reply box at the bottom of each thread that you can type in and THEN his Post Quick Reply. Or at the bottom hit the Go Advanced button and type your reply in that box and hit reply.

Regardless of which way you go about it, before you click the button to post your reply. Highlight ALL of the text and press ctrl C or highlight everything, right click and hit copy. That way everything you typed is copied and if you lose your login again, you can simply paste everything you copied and reply at that point. Or the other suggestion, type everything in notepad or something, then copy and paste it into the forum.

Computer illiterateeeee yay someone like me.

And, if your like me you'd be going what is ctrl? what is C? When i was told that a few years ago that's whatI did

So, if you are like me, lol's..... Just adding Lana...(cause we need visual) Left hand side you'll see the Tab button, under that you'll see the Caps Lock button and under that Shift, and under that (Ctrl... button).. Use your mouse to highlight the text by clicking on the left hand side of the mouse, at the beginning of your text until the end, and press the Ctrl button and the letter c together.

Then press reply if you lose it, hit quick reply and then press Ctrl button again together with the letter v at the same time (which acts as a paste button) and press quick reply again...

Yeah, I guess I could have explained myself a little clearer.

Regarding the highlighting though, as long as you are in the box where you are typing, if you hit ctrl A, it highlights all the text for you without using the mouse. So, it's a quick and simple little two step process, ctrl A to highlight, ctrl C to copy.

Then like CW said, if you lose it, log back in go to the reply box and ctrl V, voila, there is the post you lost.

Like LB said, hold down the Ctrl button and then hit A then C. To put it in the reply window later, put the cursor in the window, left click, hold down Ctrl and hit V. Don't copy anything else in between and don't reboot.
