But is there any way to have our visitor msg's private and the profile itself unless you are friends with someone?

You have a Privacy Setting AA, click on that and the below will come up and you can customise it as you wish...
If you would like to restrict the display of some of the blocks on your profile page, select a minimum relationship that other users must meet to see the blocks.
Note: Guests and users on your Ignore List will only be able to view the blocks on your page where you have selected 'Everyone'.

Duh, we have privacy settings? I did not know that...honestly. Now that I do know that, thank you CW, I have no idea where to find them or how to change them.
It's awful to be so lacking when it comes to all things technical. Ugh!
Click on settings, up beside the tab to view your profile, and on a column on the left, you will see privacy settings, you can change all you want in there
