Why can't nice clothes be made for women sizes?

  • #2
I'm not sure where you were shopping but I love many of the women's styles out now. It is a sort of 80's vibe, and I don't wish to relive high school, but I still manage to find nice things.

    Try another store

I have some cute clothes that I've bought online but sometimes I like to wear an oversized man's shirt. So comfy.

I am quite curvy but find shops do cater for my size [thankfully!]. Wearing stylish, tailored clothes in very important but the major fashion shops tend to cater for smaller women, so I have to stick to M&S along with other shops. Not all my clothes are M&S but their clothing is very well made and looks good. I buy all my bras from Bravissimo. I have a large bust, so their underwear really suits me. I think it's just a case of going to the less obvious shops when searching for stylish women's clothing your size. Do also know, the fashion industry is waking up to the face most women in Britain are size 16 and over. There is much more choice now: but do keep looking.

As a modern woman, bouncing between sizes or struggling to find the perfect fit is standard dressing room protocol. So, no, it's not all in your head.
"Customers aren't imagining the variation that exists in sizing," Jessica Murphy, co-founder of True Fit, a platform that helps shoppers find the correct size across thousands of brands, told TODAY Style.
But there is a reason for all that variance. Decades ago, there was a standard in sizing a time when a medium was a medium, no matter what but that faded as the market became more brand-centric and each brand developed its own sizing system.

This post is so vague, I am not sure what advice to give. What style do you like? I'm sure we could give better pointers if we knew that. Also not sure what you mean by women sizes (plus size? women in general?). What is your body type?

you must not live in the U.S.
the stores have kids dept, misses dept, women's dept (was referring to latter)

since did this post, found some clothes I liked; bought couple tops with lace on them, floor length skirt, and a dress

I think that Amy was saying that the nicest clothes are not found in the sizes that fit a lot of women. I had the same problem when my wife came to the USA. She typically fitted in a 2 or 3 sized dress. Many nice clothes did not come in such small sizes. Some of the clothes that fit her were actually children sizes, but children are not shaped the same as adults.

I have but one lamp by which my feet are guided, and that is the lamp of experience.
                            ...
Shall we gather strength by irresolution and inaction? Shall we acquire the means of effectual resistance by lying supinely on our backs and hugging the delusive phantom of hope, until our enemies shall have bound us hand and foot?

This post was made 6 months ago. I've bought so much since then. Not sure if that is a good thing. I love clothes and shoes.

I wish I had a "style". I really dress by mood, and I think that is why I have so much, as I just never know how I will want to look. I wear everything I buy, and I enjoy it a lot. I also tend to wear things out fast, with my lifestyle, dogs and all. I just tend to be hard on especially shoes.

Experiment with new looks and styles!
