True that. Sad. It's just hair

    • Indeed. Don't lose any sleep over it -- it's just hair.

      • Body hair. It’s a completely natural thing that’s bound to happen to every single human being. Ever since the human species was evolved, they had body hair. And hey, what do you know? We still have body hair! Every. Single. Person. On. This. World. Has. Natural. Body. Hair. I cannot seem to stress that enough. Why do we have body hair? For protection and survival purposes! Yes, that’s right, body hair is actually important and there is actually a legitimate reason for it being there other than “being annoying and gross.”

So why on Earth are we telling people, particularly women, to shave? I was on this pro-body-positivity blog, and they received an anonymous question saying, “Not shaving is okay, but it’s not ladylike.” That being said, what does ‘ladylike’ even mean? According to this definition, ‘ladylike’ must mean something along the lines of, “altering your natural body to be in a very VERY unnatural state.” When did shaving become ladylike in the first place? Does that mean if a man shaves his pubes he’s acting like a ‘girl?’

There are two reasons why this comment is so rude. One, it supports gender rolls and expectations. Two, it states that a woman cannot be a “lady” if she doesn’t shave. My responses to this are: One, screw gender rolls and expectations. Anyone can do whatever the they want without worrying if it suits their gender. Why are you so worried about gender anyway if it doesn’t concern you? Two, NEWSFLASH! Females have body hair! Weird, right? No, it’s actually not weird because 100% of women have natural body hair. It’s actually weird to NOT have body hair!

Wen did shaving become a “proper etiquette” in the first place?
I’m not anti-shaving, but I am growing ahha.. However, I am pro-being able to do whatever you want without being judged. That being said, if a “lady” wants to grow out her bush then let her. Shaving isn’t “ladylike,” having body hair is! Shaving is just a weird form of self mutilation that people think is attractive. If you’re going to call someone gross for not shaving, you seriously need a reality check. 100% of females have body hair. Get Used to it
