  • Book ideas for beginner reader/girl

My 7 year old daughter just started reading chapter books. My son started with the Magic Tree House series and loved them. Although my daughter is starting the same, I'm not sure it's her cup of tea. She is really girly (although I hate admitting that). We tried the Junie B. series that somebody recommended for girls. It was terrible. It's about a girl who constantly creates drama, pronounces words incorrectly and is mean to her friends. Why are books targeted to girls always about drama! Why can't they be adventure books?

Please give me some good recommendations of adventure books with female leads for a beginner reader.

  • My little one isn't ready for chapter books yet, but my nieces (5 of the) loved both the Lunch Lady series and Captain Underpants but I'm not 100% sure of the age range

    • When I was around her age I loved the Sideways Stories from Wayside School series by Louis Sachar.
