  • Period/bleeding every other week

    Hi guys,

I am new here. Just wanted to ask a question... I have been having very irregular periods every other week. I seem to be on for a week, off for a week and then on again. But the bleeding that isn't my regular cycle is a lot darker and has more clots (sorry about the info). I have days of severe pain, and then can have moderate pain. I am currently using Noriday mini pill as my contraception. Shall I seek advice from a doctor? Shall I change my pill?

  • Hey Kim!

How long have you been on Noriday? If you're within your first 3 months or so on it, it's perfectly normal to have irregular periods as your body adjusts to its new hormone levels. Back when I took birth control, what you've described wasn't uncommon for me to experience. It was frustrating, but my doctor always told me to give my body a full 3 months to adjust to a new pill.

If you've been on it for longer than that and it has just suddenly started, I would give it one full cycle and if it doesn't correct itself, I'd talk to my doctor about switching pills.
