  • Possible hormonal imbalance, 21 years old

The last few weeks have been a really big struggle for me. I have been experiencing so many different symptoms, all of which I think are from a hormonal imbalance. I am in the process of working with a gynecologist to find an answer, but playing the waiting game is so stressful!

I am a college student, and I have such a busy schedule and all of these symptoms are making it almost impossible for me to function. I started my period two and a half weeks ago (when I shouldn't have) and it hasn't stopped! It was so heavy I even went to the hospital for fear that I was hemorrhaging. I am not hemorrhaging, nor am I pregnant. Not only does my period seem to refuse to stop, I am now even experiencing hot flashes, nausea, fatigue, I'm not thinking clearly (getting simple things mixed up and incapable of remembering anything at all), I keep crying over everything (extremely rare for me, I am not much of a "crier") and I always just feel so defeated and exhausted.

I am trying so hard to find a sense of normalcy, but I can't even go to all of my classes in a day because I don't have the energy for it and as the day progresses I just feel more and more nauseated. I just want to go home and have my family take care of me. I have been feeling so lousy that I haven't been keeping my room clean, and I have to force myself to take care of personal hygiene.

I really hope that I can soon find some answers, I cannot live this way. My gynecologist ordered some blood tests and will be having me get a pelvic ultrasound in a couple weeks to make sure my ovaries and uterus are okay.

Has anyone else had similar symptoms and found a solution?

  • Forgot to mention that I take birth control, and have been taking it since I was 14 (ovarian cysts)
