Siimply.love, it is very important for your personal hygiene, health and comfort to use quality sanitary pads. If they don't keep you dry and if they are not breathable, then the moist maintained inside will create a good environment for bacteria to develop.

I've used Always for so many years but they did not keep me dry and gave me a very unpleasant itchy feeling because they were not breathable. Until recently I thought that is how you are supposed to feel like when you are having your period, but then I realized that it can be a whole lot better if you are using the right pads. I have just tried some that have very good absorbency, and the great thing is that they don't allow the liquid to come out but they allow air flow, so it feels MUCH BETTER!

Soap is safe on the outside. It's when it gets into your folds, crevices, etc that it causes a problem. You'll know when this happens because it'll burn like the dickens. Your vagina is self-cleaning, so the soap messes with its natural pH. Don't ever use douches! They have the same effect.
A wet washcloth/loofah/whatever strikes your fancy should work just fine.

Cleaning during that time of the month

    Hey everyone,

Honestly, I don't know how to clean down there, especially during my period. I usually just use the shower head to clean (plus it feels good ) but ya, is it safe to use soap down there or no? I was told that you shouldn't use soap around that area during your period. Is that true?
