Yeah, I get the pain and it lasts several hours. It's almost always on the right side, though. The left side is rare. Once I have health insurance again I'll have to talk to the doctor about pain medications for it. Before I told her I could handle the pain myself, but now I'm kicking myself for trying to be brave

I was just having this conversation with a freind last night - I get the same pain, my doctor has told me it is ovulation and what I am feeling is actually the egg passing threw my tubes and her exact words were "sometimes is not a smooth trip and the egg has troubles" Ok......... My doctor wrote me a prescription for Naproxen which really helps as does getting on my hands and knees and rocking back and forth for a few minutes.

I get it every single month, have for a few years now. It's usually on the lower left side of my pelvic area. It goes on for a couple of day's right around ovulation time. Sometimes there is no pain, sometimes a really sharp pain lasting a minute or two, sometimes it lasts up to 15 minutes and is just awful. I get through it knowing it will fade again soon.

When I described the symptoms to a friend one time, she had mentioned she had something similiar and something about her eggs not passing due to an obstruction, so they would rupture and that is what was causing her pain... she said it was very hard for them to find out that was happening as all ultra sounds turned up normal til they took one at just the right time and were able to see what was happening. I think if I remember right she said her body was absorbing it and so it was okay... I don't remember exactly.

For me I havn't gone to get it checked out or even really brought it up at the doctor, it just seems to be so coincidental to my ovulation and really doesn't impair too much so I just try to deal with it, but it does hurt a lot.

Yes I have experienced the same thing for at least the last 25 years until recently as I approach menopause. Usually its located in the lower right side but can also be on the left and usually around the same time each month. There is a watery discharge or even slight spotting and the pain can go on for a day or two. I have found taking a hot bath can help also ibuprofen, but what seemed to help the most was a PMS herbal formula that I got from GNC. It contains Crampbark, Black Cohosh etc., and seemed to relieve the pain in a couple of hours.

try not eating/ drinking any dairy around the time ur due. chocolate and milk make my pain heaps worse. buy some soy milk or a substitute, and also remember to drink lots of water. dehydration can worsen pain. hope this helps u.

I get fairly bad cramps and pain in my abdomen during my monthly. I find ibuprofen helps (especially taken at the first twinge of pain) and also drinking as much water as I can stomach and eating bland foods (like bananas...bananas are like my best friend then lol) That's what I do anyways. I hope it helps, I know it certainly is never fun and I guess I'm lucky that mine has never landed me in emergency. Good luck with finding something that works

    Anyone else feel pre-ovulation pain?

Hello ladies. So several years ago, I noticed I would get really bad pain on what felt like my uterus. After a few emergency room visits with no answers, I finally decided to go see my OBGYN. She ordered an ultrasound. It was very uncomfortable, as I had the internal one. Well, everything was normal, and the doctor told me she suspected it was pain from ovulation. It's called mittelschmerz, which is German for "middle pain".

It hurts tremendously when it happens. I find that most over the counter pain medications do nothing. Anyone else experience this pain, too, and have a good way of dealing with the pain? I get it every month for about a day or two. If you don't experience this, you are lucky
