  • Seeing doctor about irregular periods

    hi all,

im living abroad where at the moment I have to pay for every little thing a doctor does for me, so trying to keep things minimal (also a country where they will do things that aren't necessary unless I tell them not to)... Before I was on the pill I was irregular from 11 yo to 16 (went on pill due to irregulatory)... whilst on the pill I was clock work, on time, every month exactly... I came off the pill November 2016 at 19, now it has been 10/11 months nearly and I have only had 2 periods one in december and one in March.. since March I have had some brown discharge and light pink spotting once or twice.

I basically want to go to the doctor to learn if there js an underlining jssues as to why I am irregular and wherever it is causing me and other problems I am unaware of that will effect my future.

Has anyone had the same? I neee to basically tell the doctor do my bloods for this this this basically and a scan for this this this... if you get what I mean.. can anyone help?? Thank you anyone in advance

  • Welcome to WH
you were irregular before you went on the pill and maybe you will always be irregular?

had an acquaintance who was always irregular and rarely had periods
she became pregnant, didn't know, not eating correctly, she gained little weight

she was maybe 19 at the time and didn't find out she was pregnant until almost 7 mos
unfortunately, the baby ended up having problems due to lack of prenatal care and possibly some drug use

so please be careful if you are sexually active

    • Hey, hope you are fine. I never had regular periods. My periods were very irregular. I don't exactly remember when I last had periods. After marriage, when I tried to conceive, I was not able to conceive. I came to know that I'm infertile. The particular reason is unknown as happened in many cases. One reason that was irregular periods is the only reason you can point out on. I never drank alcohol or took much stress. I was a healthy woman. I always took care of myself. I never thought that I would never have a baby. What happened to me is natural and I cant do anything in this. I have to bear the pain of not being a mother. I don't know what I will do but the only thing I know is that I will never be a mother.

      • Period irregularities can occasionally be brought on by certain medications, excessive exercise, a very low or high body weight, or a calorie-deficient diet. Period irregularities can also result from hormonal imbalances. For instance, irregular periods can result from thyroid hormone levels that are either too low or too high. PCOS, thyroid problems, birth control methods, stress, and other issues with the reproductive system are all known to cause irregular periods. In any case, as soon as you notice an unusual period, you should visit your OB/GYN.
