Hello I'm not sure what's going on but I missed three pills so I called my doctors when I began to spot at the time it wasn't as bad. She then called me back and my spoting began to be regular bleeding she told me since I was really close to the nonactive pills to throw those away and start new it should reguluat. Well it hasn't its got worse with cramps and bleeding. What would you suggest?

Unfortunately, there's nothing you can do but let your body get readjusted to the pills. When you get off track of taking them, it also throws your hormones off track. It may take one full cycle to regulate again, so as hard as it is, be patient. It's not something that will happen immediately, you may have to go through an entire pack of pills before you're regulated again. If at that time you're still having the issue, I'd call the doctor back.

A missed period followed by a long-lasting period could be caused by various factors. Here are a few possibilities:- Pregnancy: If you are sexually active and have missed a period, pregnancy could be a potential cause. However, it's important to note that a long-lasting period doesn't typically occur in early pregnancy. If you suspect you might be pregnant, it's advisable to take a pregnancy test or consult a healthcare professional for confirmation.
- Hormonal Imbalance: Hormonal imbalances can disrupt your menstrual cycle, leading to missed periods or irregular bleeding. These imbalances can occur due to factors such as stress, excessive exercise, sudden weight changes, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), thyroid disorders, or certain medications. If you suspect a hormonal imbalance, it's best to consult a healthcare professional for a proper diagnosis.
- Perimenopause or Menopause: As women approach menopause, their menstrual cycles may become irregular, with missed periods or longer-lasting periods. Perimenopause refers to the transitional period before menopause, during which hormonal fluctuations are common. If you're in your late 40s or early 50s, it's possible that hormonal changes associated with perimenopause or menopause could be causing your symptoms.
- Other Health Issues: Certain medical conditions, such as uterine fibroids, endometriosis, pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), or reproductive system disorders, can also cause irregular bleeding or missed periods. It's important to consult a healthcare professional to rule out any underlying health issues.
Keep in mind that this information is not a substitute for professional medical advice. If you're concerned about your missed period or prolonged bleeding, I recommend reaching out to a healthcare provider who can evaluate your situation and provide appropriate guidance.
