Don't overlook the amount of self worth a man garners from earning a living and providing for those he loves.

He must be going through a very rough time.

    All the best.

I'm going to see him on Monday. It will have been 2 weeks since our "break" started. We've still been talking during this time, and things aren't weird between us-I just don't see him much right now. Like Krisi said-he could be using his financial problems as a way to get out of the relationship and I want to ask him about that and maybe give him an "out." If that is the case, then there is no reason to draw this out any longer, and no matter how long I wait, the situation won't change. But, if it is just the financial/career problem, then I want to tell him that I'll wait for him to get it sorted out. This might be weird, but I like to look at all relationships like marriages. There are reasons to break up...if someone cheats, if there is violence in the relationship, if you don't trust your partner, etc... If my boyfriend and I were married, we would certainly not be breaking up because of financial problems, or because one of us were going through a career change. It may strain the relationship for a while, but I don't think it's something to break up over.

this is just my opinion, but if a man breaks up with you because he is broke and has no money, it doesnt say to me that he is trying to spare you, but rather he thinks either - its a good excuse to break up anyway, or he really doesnt have a lot of respect for women and thinks they are only there for the good times. i wouldnt wait for him, i would rather get on with my life, maybe you will get back together later but dont count on it. and definately if you say i will wait for you, you will be his fallback girl in case of emergency!!

I think this is a tough decision to make, and no matter which way it goes, things wont be easy. You've made your choice, so stand by it, but also remember sometimes does happen, so prepare for the worst and hope for the best. Goodluck and I hope all goes well for you.
