I too like to do things that are often thought of as 'guy stuff' and sometimes still find myself uncomfortable around other women. For me, I think that's rooted in the belief that women are lots more perceptive than guys - often more guarded and not nearly as easy to bring into my point of view. I know I feel much more vulnerable around women.

In a way I used to as well. I grew up with an older brother, had more common interests with boys than girls (preferred sports over sitting on a bench gossiping boys, which I found boring). As I grew up I found even more interests common to men than women and that made it difficult for me to make female friends (and easier to make male friends) but now I have two really good friends that even if I don't share many interests with we like each other for our personalities. I like 'down to earth' women, I'm comfortable around them, I feel I can understand them. But I've never been comfortable around women who ONLY talk about gossip, hairstyle, men and totally 'girly' subjects. I just can't be around those and look for the exit.

It's a weird thing. I wouldn't say I feel uncomfortable around other women, but I do prefer the company of males. Just naturally, because I grew up with 2 brothers and have always idolized my dad, while my mom has always been kind of a biotch. My best friend is a guy, who I've known for over 10 years now. However, the handful of people that I would consider my best friends are women, I just did a good job picking them out

Maybe it's an age thing, I don't know. I know that I personally don't have a whole lot of female friends because many, many of the ones I've met still thrive on drama a little too much. I'm in my mid-20's, so a lot of them still haven't grown out of that "high school" stage yet, and I just can't be bothered with it. I do base it on experiences, and I've had some BAD experiences (then again, who hasn't?) with women. It's a trust thing.

The only time I feel uncomfortable around other women is when I'm out somewhere, and I can tell I'm being scrutinized by people I've never met. It doesn't happen often, but when it does, it drives me batty. Again, can't be bothered with it.
