How much bickering is too much? Am I overthinking this?
First off, Hi! Thanks for reading this! SO. My boyfriend and I started to date a while back, and we've always worked really well as a couple; however, we're not doing as well now that we're both in our junior year of college, working, and doing a million other things that come with growing up. I'm still happy with him, but I'm worried. We've been snapping at each other almost every day. Most of the bickering last only a few seconds, but it still irritates me. We've even gotten in a few big fights within only a few weeks(we used to only fight once in a while). We fit well together, we have all the same interests, and love being together. I've honestly never felt like someone understood me like this before; however, I don't like all the two second bickering things that happen. I don't know how to approach it, because I'm not sure if there is anything to actually approach. Is there actually a problem or are we just stressed? What are your guys' thoughts? How much bickering is too much? -
Between "life" still is a relationship. Both require a lot of work.
Your day to day runnings with increased pressure needs to stay between 9-5. Both need to make an effort outside of that to still live, love and laugh.
If both of you bring home with you your day to day stress it's going to spill over.
That is how you approach it with a reminder to each other of how much you love each other and how much this new pressure sucks.

Bickering and arguing is too much when it's not productive to solving whatever it was you were disagreeing about.
You're both under a lot of stress right now, and it seems it's human nature to take that stress out on the ones you love most. The way to stop the pattern is to recognize it and make a conscious effort to stifle it.
When you or he start the bickering, force yourself to stop. Walk away if you need to, or just try to tell yourself that in the grand scheme of things - the tiny issue you're bickering about just isn't worth your breath.
And, as CW suggested, make time to enjoy each other's company and remind yourselves why you're so great together.Comment
