    Simple:
"If you ever hit me again, I'll have you arrested so fast your head will spin."

In the meantime, take some pictures of yourself in your current condition, have them printed, and give them to a trusted friend with the instructions that they can never be given back to you, and can only be sent to the police on your instructions.

You need a witness to the fact that he has hurt you, for when (not "if") he does it again, as he will.

isnt it a little disingenuous to do that after being the one starting the physical abuse? neither of you had a legitimate for hitting the other. if he has told anyone in the past about being hit, he could always claim he was defending himself.

you two need to start over. have a sit down and agree not to hit each other again, and for some way to disengage from each other when things get heated.

i am not a medical professional, but it sounds like you are suffering from post partum depression.

you do need counseling or at least someone to vent to about that, and about what is going on in your relationship. maybe individually at first, then as a couple.

that is if you want to try and fix things together. if not, just get out.

Physical abuse is never ok. You need to get out, if he has done it once he will do it again i have been there i know. Your children do not need to grow up in an environment like that. If you have boys they will think that its ok to react like that towards women and that isn't good at all, that is why i got out when i did. I never wanted to have to know that my son abuses his wife. I think it would be best for everyone if you just go your separate ways. Your children wont have to deal with the trauma and you will all be safe, that is the most important part, if he is able to do this to you what is he going to do to the children if they "push him past his breaking point"? Do whats best for everyone

          Thankyou Everyone!

Just wanted to send a big THANKYOU to everyone for the advice. My relationship with my husband has since improved by leaps and bounds. We both discovered things about ourselves we didn't know and I finally let go of some things from my past that were making me want to hurt him. We are soooo happy, and when we argue now it is in an adult way. But we now communicate better so the stuff we used to fight about all the time is not even an issue. I shared with him what I said on here and your replies and he wanted to say Thankyou to you as well. Life is good!
