A friend of my girlfriend is in an abusive relationship. The trouble is she likes it, well, when she gets hit she comes and sleeps over, saying that she'll never go back to him and stuff, but the next morning it's "I can't believe I said that, I was just sooo drunk" etc. etc. And they're happily back together. He isn't the type of guy to say sorry either - she just literally likes it. She chose a big dumb guy, a hooligan who likes his fighting. She fantasizes about getting punched in the face, also fantasizing about men in gas masks etc.
So, in my opinion, some women crave it.
Let them live with it if they want to, if they're trapped and scared, help them. But a lot of them probably don't want the help.
I would imagine something in her childhood went horribly wrong for her to crave abuse from someone that's supposed to love her, and so maybe she gets off on it in some very twisted psychological way, (i.e. Daddy-always-told-me-I-was-so-pretty-while-he-beat-me type thing).
I don't think any woman with full mental and emotional health intact craves abuse.
