My 3rd Day on Birth Control Pill

Hi, it has been 3 days since I took my first time birth control pill (I'm taking Yasmin), and I've been having nausea everytime I wake up in the morning, but it's gone in afternoon.. is it common? will it go away in a couple of days as my body is adjusting to it? it's a light nausea but it's kinda annoying, still. But I tried to eat something in the morning and after a couple of minutes I don't feel really pukey anymore, does that mean eating breakfast will work to stop us from having a morning sickness??

secondly, I took the pill first day on my period, so I was wondering when will the pill be effective in preventing the pregnancy? is it from the 1st day? has anyone ever tried?

    Thanks!

You have to let your body adjust to the pill, as you said. For many women, it takes about a month or two, so just keep taking it for the next few weeks and see how you feel.

I believe doctors recommend waiting a week after starting the pill to have sex without a secondary form of protection... I could be mistaken though... But this information should be listed in the little info packet that comes with the pill.

Did you ask any of these questions to your doctor when you were getting the prescription?

      Thanks for the response Mes_T

Well, I didn't go to doctor, I bought over the counter. I read on the packet, it seems like a week but I'm not sure so I posted this question ... what about your experience?

Yep I think a week is good then, personally that's what I've always done.

I'm currently on Yaz, and it took me a full month to get rid of unwanted side effects.

Very common. It helps to take the pills in the morning instead of at night and then slowly switch to taking them later if necessary. Either way it should go away within the first week.

Usually you want to use a backup method of birth control for a week after any changes in birth control or missing too many pills. However it can take up to 3 months for the pill to reach it's full effectiveness and I prefer to use something else for the first month just to be safe.

Yes, it wasn't a problem for me. A week should be enough time for it to start being an effective birth control. If you have any doubts, though, it wouldn't hurt to use a condom or other secondary method for the first month.

I'm on the 5th day of the pill and I'm feeling nausea again (havent had bfast)... On 3rd and 4th day I didnt feel it cuz I ate breakfast.. Well, does having a breakfast have something to do with avoiding nausea in the morning? I hope so, cuz if yes, then it's good.

Haha. Whether I'm on the pill or not, I get VERY nauseous if I skip breakfast! In fact within an hour or two I feel downright horrible!

LOL, I am usually OK with no breakfast, only a hunger feeling. But with the pill my stomach becomes more sensitive, I guess. Ah, hope I wont gain weight tho! :|
