You could maintain a long distance relationship with your new guy and see each other at school breaks.

You have a choice on how and when you "lose it", I didn't I was raped. If you remain a virgin in college, you will gain the respect of the other students, girls and guys alike. But, when the word gets out some guys will try to use you as their trophy.

Long distance relationships are painful and in most cases, an awful shadow of what a relationship should be, meant to be a short-term solution to a distance problem.
On top of that, you will probably be changing and growing a great deal while in college. If you don't learn and grow, then something is wrong! It's unlikely that you and the boy you met will grow in the same direction.
If you feel like you want to have sex - DO IT! If somebody wants to call you ****ty, tell them where they can put it. Surely, some people respect virgins, but it should be because they're being true to themselves and doing what they feel is right, not because those people thing that sex is a dirty thing. Sex is a healthy component of human relationships.
I assume from your first few posts that you feel like sex is a healthy activity that you might want to engage in sometime soon. I don't see any problem with that, especially since you're willing to carry condoms and investigate hormonal BC to protect yourself. Therefore, I have only three words for you:
      YOU GO GIRL!

Thankyou very much Little! I'm glad to see that you understand where i'm coming from. It makes me feel better
Yes, the distance thing would be quite hard.. If we had already been dating for a long time, I would possibly do the long-distance. Luckily, I haven't been. Although it sort of sucks to meet someone I feel really compatible with before school, I am glad we are not trying to force it or anything because I want to have the full college experience. I don't want to be held back.
& yes, I do think sex is a healthy activity! Not meaning doing it with a bunch of people, but I do want to experience it soon.
Thanks for all your advice and understanding (:

I'm very sorry to hear that Chaya. Yes, you are right- I will probably be respected if I do. I don't think that would be something everyone would need to know though. Like, I don't think being a virgin would be something everyone would know about me. Colleges are big places. I think being a virgin is a good thing, as well as bad. Bad because I want the experience & to hopefully feel pleasure, but good because it is respected. Unfortunately, some people think it is weird for someone to be a virgin at my age. You are right though, I'm lucky to have the choice. I will do it when I feel comfortable.

Just want to say I agree with everyone on the long distance thing. Hey you know what I realized once I moved out of home and went to college, and then again once I graduated and started traveling the world? That we're compatible with a LOT of people. Seriously? A LOT. Almost makes me wonder how we choose the "one" person to settle down with at all!

The point is, no regrets, onward girl, the future is full of possibilities.

Condoms are definitely your friend regardless of what form of birth control you decide to go with. STDs and STIs are very easy to get and can be very hard to get rid of (or you can be stuck with them for life) if you choose to have sex without a condom. Getting condoms with spermicidal lubricant will also help decrease your chances of pregnancy if the condom happens to break.

Just a note on birth control pills.
Like someone previously said, everyone reacts differently to it and there are many different brands of birth control pills.
I had to try about 6 different brands when I was on the pill in order to find one that didn't make me all crazy and emotional. I was also on the pill though to regulate my periods as they were heavy, irregular, and I had painful cramping each time. When I found the rigth brand finally, it was awesome. I had no side effects, it helped with acne, and I had a regular period after that..
So if you decide to go on the pill, be aware that just because one brand might give you crazy side effects, doesn't mean that all of them give you the same side effects.
Of course, there are many other forms of birth control out there other than the pill, but I just wanted to put that out there.

Thankyou for the advice :] & yes even if I went on a form of birth control, I would also always use a condom.
