    Which birth control????

I want to change my birth control method. I started on the pill, but had issues remembering when to take it so I switched to the Depo shot. Thats been ok, but I'm considering a longer term birth control as I have no plans/desire to get pregnant anytime soon. I know of two that last 3 years, Implanon and IUD. I have heard that IUD can have complications if you have not previously had a baby, so I'm leaning towards Implanon. What I'm wondering is if anyone on here has tried or has Implanon, and what your experience with it was, etc. I know the basics of the insertion process and all that, but I want some real women's opinions on the whole thing.

    Thanks!

I love my Implanon. My Dr gave me birth control pills for the first three months as well in order to help my body adjust. Apparently, it's fairly common with Implanon to bleed for 1-3 months after insertion, but the pills help stop that. I had mine put in at the end of August, and haven't had a period since. Google the FDA information for both, and compare them. The side effects of the IUD v. Implanon were more than enough to get me to the implant. But, your priorities may be different than mine, so it's worth looking into.

I HATE the depo shot...just run away from that!!

I'm on the nuva ring, and I love it! I put the ring in for three weeks, and then one week out (to help regulate my cycle), and after 3 or 4 months, I'm allowed to put one in for three weeks, and then just put another in! That way I don't get a period. Its safe, way better than an IUD, affordable, and I don't have to remember to take a pill every day.

        It's definitely worth looking into!

I feel fear to use IUD. My doctor said to me that it is safe and will not create complications if you have regularly check up of IUD. But i still use birth control pills. I feel more comfort with them.
