Mirena and sex
Hi everyone I have a question. I'm considering an IUD for birth control after excluding all the rest. However I know that in the beginning there can be light to heavy spotting while the body adjusts to the new device. My question is, would it be ok to use sea sponges during sex to avoid the mess and ugly look of blood?? For those that don't know, sea sponges are a natural for of hygiene substitution to tampons, they are natural and can be used during sex as well or sex during the period. However when used during sex they can go up high in the vagina and usually it's not hard to remove it as it can be felt with two fingers and pulled down. But if I think of an IUD in there I am scared the strings can be stuck in the sea sponge and make a big mess! -
Those sponges are going to have natural chemicals in them which could pose a health risk, add in the chance of the product having more chemicals due to them being processed before they enter a store and you could have a real problem. I have never heard of using a sea sponge for internal use like that so I would honestly go ask your doctor if it is safe or not. If you got the information from an online source who sells the sponges then be weary because anything like that all they are concerned about is making money off of you so they will say anything they have to in order to get that sale. There are those who believe that dictionaries should not merely reflect the times but also protect English from the mindless assaults of the trendy.Comment

Right after having an IUD inserted there is a risk of your body expelling it. I would be worried about using anything that you think may actually come into contact with the IUD. Your body is already getting used to something foreign in your uterus and this sounds like something that may interfere with that process. If you're really that worried maybe just have sex in the shower or on sheets you do not care about? Maybe use a towel underneath?Comment

IUD is not suitable for all women. I have some cases that it has injured internal skin. Better to you is consult with your doctor.Comment
