I have a few questions about the pill.

Hello all, I have been taking the pill Chateal for almost a month now. I am almost done with the placebo pills for this week. My first question has to do with side effects- is it normal to not feel any side effects from the pill? I used to take a different pill months ago (Necon 1/35) and I got a lot of side effects with it (nausea, sore breasts, spotting). I stopped taking Necon and I switched to Nuvaring for a while. Nuvaring was good except I basically lost my sex drive and had pretty much no vaginal lubrication, so I decided to switch back to the pill and started taking Chateal. So yeah, I really haven't had any side effects (at least none that I've noticed) and it has made me kind of concerned.

I had even taken Plan B the on the seventh day of my pack (I had unprotected sex the day before and was worried about getting pregnant, even though I had switched directly from Nuvaring) and I didn't have any side effects from taking my normal pill and Plan B together. I also have one question about this- did taking Plan B have any effect on the effectiveness of my birth control? I didn't think that it would, but I just wanted to ask.

Last question- Since I am on my placebo pill week, I have gotten my period. I've noticed that it's still kinda heavy. I didn't have heavy periods at all when I was on Necon, but I did when I was on Nuvaring. I'm just wondering if it is normal to have a heavy-ish period even when you're on the pill.

Everyone reacts differently to every pill. It's pretty much the goal to find a pill you don't have side effects on. I've taken 5 and only 2 are good for me. I have no side effects on seasonique and only a little dryness on yasmin. Plan B will not make your pills less effective but it may mess with your periods causing spotting in the middle of the cycle and for some side effects like you mentioned you had on other pills. It could also be responsible for your heavy period and you might have lighter periods in the future on that pill.

Yeah I just get paranoid and think that because I don't have any side effects that the pill isn't working. That's how I felt when I was on Nuvaring too; I just assume that lack of side effects means it's not working and that I'll get pregnant. Yeah I was told that taking Plan B might cause spotting but it actually didn't happen.

every pill has a reaction to our body, first and foremost we have to consider to see a doctor for sure so that the doctor can determine what kind of pills should you intake.

Every pill has a different reaction. And also its not suitable for everyone. Try to consult some doctor asap.

Doctors just give you whatever their favorite is or the drug rep is pushing the most and see what happens. They have no way of knowing which pill is right for your body and often they are too conservative the first time giving the lowest dose pill they have or triphasic pills which fails for a lot of people. They often go to stronger dose pills or at least monophasic the 2nd time around after you've had side effects on one type of pill. It's a trial and error thing.
