Switching brands of birth control, does it matter?

    Hello!
I was taking a birth control that was discontinued, so when I refiled my prescription I got a new brand. Then this new brand, had a recall. It was Freya 28. So now I'm on yet another brand called Marvelon. All 3 have the same active ingredients, so I shouldn't experience any new side effects right? I was excited to finally be done my first 3 months and have my body used to the pill, but starting all these new ones has me worried.
I hope I'm just being paranoid! Any answer would be helpful.
    Thanks!

Even though they're the same formulations, different brands with the same ingredient amounts can still have different side effects. Don't know why. I had to switch recently due to a discontinue (different brand than yours). I don't get any negative side effects from the pill but I did notice a positive difference in lubrication with the new brand. It was way too much before and now its normal. I know, its a bummer you have to switch after getting used to one brand. Hopefully you won't notice much of a difference if any.

every birth control has a reaction..just try to observe the changes of your moods and your body.
Sometimes in moods you get easily get angry without any reason or your not feeling comfortable and see also if there is any changes in your body or even allergies.

Every pill has its own reaction, own side effect. According to me you should consult with doctor to change the pill.

Even name brand versus generic sometimes has problems. When the generic for yasmin came out a lot of women didn't pay attention what they were given so they had no idea it was a generic ruling out the placebo effect. Yet many women suddenly suffered nausea, break through bleeding, and mood problems. There's a lot of other junk in pills that can effect you as well and while it says there is x amount of each active ingredient the FDA actually allows a range in each batch so there could be a tiny amount more or less in one brand versus another or in the generic versus name brand. I had a psychiatrist who always specified the name brand if you had the insurance for it because it tended to be regulated a little tighter and some people would react to just mcg (micrograms) of difference. I used to take one sleep med by liquid so I could measure exact tiny amounts with a syringe.
