Anyone FOR Yaz?
I've been looking over a lot of threads about worries and side effects from taking Yaz. I'm only taking OrthoTricylen which works perfect for me, but I considered Yaz before. Is anyone taking it that actually is 100% satisfied with it? What are the real benefits, over taking just a standard pill? Just curious. -
Yaz was my first and only birth control pill. I took it for a month and hated it. It was not worth keeping for another month to see if it would straighten out.
It made sex completely impossible. "Lowered sex drive" my tail end; NO sex drive is more like it. No desire, no lubrication, nothing. UTI symptoms almost the whole time I was on it, and yeast infection symptoms the other days.
I might try other ones, but it's a strong maybe. Yaz messed me up that much.<center><i>Nature gives us shapeless shapes,<br>Clouds and waves and flame,<br>But human expectation is that love remains the same,<br>And when it doesn’t, we point our fingers and blame.</i><br><a href="http://www.womens-health.com/boards/register.php">Register</a>|<a href="http://www.womens-health.com/boards/members/little.html">Contact Admin</a>|<a href="mailto:support*womens-health.com?subject=Forum Contact">Email Admin</a></center> -
I've been on Yaz for about four months now, and I had pretty minimal side effects (all of which are common to birth control pills in general, from what my gynecologist told me). I was a day 1 starter, and I had mild appetite loss for the first two and a half weeks or so and experienced a very slight increase in breast size in the second two weeks of the pack, but that seemed to go away while I was taking the inactive pills. I did have a mild yeast infection recently, but that cleared up within a day of starting an over-the-counter treatment (I used Monistat 3).
The bright side? My acne got reduced to practically nothing after the first month, my periods are much lighter (and less painful - I used to have up to two weeks of PMS and sometimes excruciating cramps, but now I have next to none of either), I have fewer mood swings, and all in all, there've been no changes in my eating habits or sex drive. Two of my friends are also on Yaz, and they've both had very similar experiences.
Obviously, which birth control pill you choose is completely up to you, and you may still have negative side effects - but Yaz has been pretty good in my experience. Good luck!

I have it to try. I am not whole heartedly into hormonal BC. Too afraid of the side effects after the Mirena incident.Comment
