    Skipping Placebo pills- help?

Hi all! Was wondering if any of you could help me.

I have been on the pill since June this year. I was on Microgynon 20ED for about 3 months but it wasn't strong enough for me, so my doctor switched me to Levlen ED. So far it has worked great, but this month I decided to skip the placebo's and continue straight on to the next pack. I have an event next month and I worked out that by skipping the placebo week this month, I wouldn't have my period next month. I decided to skip my period this month instead of next month incase I had breakthrough bleeding/spotting- which I do now. I started the new pack last night and this morning I had cramping and bloating, followed by brown blood. I'm not sure if this is my period or just spotting.

I'm just wondering if this is normal and whether or not I should keep taking the new pack of normal pills rather than going back to the sugar pills? Sorry if this all sounds confusing! I'm new to this and would love some advice!

    Thanks.

Just keep taking the new pack now that you've started it.

I'm not familiar with Levelen, but if it is a triphasic pill (different levels of hormones during different weeks,) you need to follow a more complicated period-skipping schedule. If it's monophasic (the same level of hormone in every pill all month) then you've done it right and this is just the best result you can expect from continuous pill use.

Often times your body has to adjust to a longer schedule if you want to avoid bleeding. It took at least a year for my body to not have some bleeding every 2-2 1/2 months in to the next set of pills when I started seasonique. Seasonique is 3months between periods and has no inactive pills just a lower dose week every 3 months. Sometimes I ended up taking the lower dose pills halfway through and then adding the leftover normal pills on to the next set of pill packs because my body refused to wait 3 months.
