Missed One Day plus Starting Antibiotics

A few days ago I missed one day of birth control, and this occurred during my first week after my period ended. I also just started Amoxicillin yesturday. My boyfriend and I planned on a romantic weekend and sex would most likely be involved in the picture. Now we always use alternative birth control methods (condoms) but I am a little paranoid of the condom ripping because it did once before with us, but luckily everything turned out all right.
How effective is my birth control right now that I am on my antibiotics (in case the condom does rip) and is it true that you can sometimes be fertile (ovulating) during the first week after your period? I know ovulation usually occurs 14 days after the last menstrual cycle, but I was just curious.

I just heard from a reputable source that antibiotics cancel out birth control AND that birth control cancels out antibiotics. You'll have to stop taking one for the other to work. Shouldn't your doctor have known you were on BC and told you to stop? Or your pharmacist? Most pharmacies have a "counseling" service, or your antibiotics should have instructions on medicine interaction.

Yes, when you take any antibiotic you need to use an alternative method of birth control as well as the contraceptive pill, its because most antibiotics disturb the gut, therefore , dirhorreah , which means that the pill is not absorbed in the body ...leaving you unprotected and possible pregnancy!

So, carry on with the birth control and use a condom - even if your not having dihorrrea...as they just generally interfere with your bod a bit .

The ovulation thing - i ovulate before - (painfully) during my period and afterwards when the period has finished for a week or so afterwards , so the dr said ,when he looked in my hospital . I didnt think it was possible afterwards but there you are .

Stick with the condoms for a bit .
