Can anyone give me some advice???Please!

I am 27 and I have always pretty much had irregular periods. A couple of years ago I was too heavy and now I don't have one at all. I haven't had one since the first of the year. I have been to two doctors and one who wasn't a gynecologist says that I may have a fallen uterus and sends me to the gynecologist that I have been seeing for the last 6yrs. He says it is just normal for me to be abnormal. He also said not to worry about it until I try to get pregnant and then I will need help. I am just not happy with that answer. He put me on progesterone to jump start my period and told me to take that and if in three months I don't have another period then I need to take the progesterone again. I think I need to persue this further. Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

If you are not satisfied with the answers and solutions your doctor is offering you, the best thing to do is get a second and even third opinion. Do not accept that all doctors are always right because they aren't. Now I am not saying your doctor is wrong, just that it doesn't hurt to find out from other people to confirm what the doc is saying.

When you were getting your exams, did either of the doctors give you a hormone test or any other sort of tests? If they made their decisions only based on a physical exam with NO bloodwork or anything of that nature, then you should make sure that is done. Without hormone tests, you may be taking that progesterone when you shouldn't. If you did get the hormone tests and the doc found that you were progesterone deficient, then yes... continue to take it. Progesterone deficiency can cause progesterone infertillity which is reversable with hormone therapy.

There are a lot of tests that can be taken to find out what is going on so I would make sure that you are getting a thorough exam from your doc.

Keep in mind that is true that many women just naturally have irregular periods and have to live with them or take birth control to regulate them.

I totally agree with Prodigy. I have been a reader of Our Bodies, Our Selves
from the start, so had some info when I went to the various doctors I had
      encountered over my life.

It may be normal to have a 31 day period. To have a 3 day period; or to have a 29 day 8 day period. It is not normal to go and come and change from one thing to another.

Something is causing the changes, and I think you should find some doctor
who is willing to take the time to learn what is wrong with you.

      Doctors make lots of mistakes.
