I have no idea where I picked up this nugget but I'm certain I once heard the pH of regular soap can mess with your pH balance in that area and lead to anything from general irritation to infection and it's better to use a low pH soap for 'down there'.
Or I could be pulling this from Lord knows where, so someone correct me if I'm wrong.

It isn't normal for any part of your body to itch and certainly not continuously. I'd venture a guess she thought you were hinting more at a feeling of "stimulation". I'd hate to think she has spent all her life with an itch.
No scented or deodorant products in the genital area, including pads that are scented or treated. Also tinted and/or scented TP should be avoided. Wear Cotton undies, avoid pantyhose and clothing that is tight in the crotch and see what happens? I'm not a fan of douching as it upset the natural balance but you may try a vinegar or yogurt douche to provide some relief.Comment

Hopefully some helpful advice
I'm a sufferer of vulvodynia (an unexplained constant burning of my vulva) that leaves me in agony everyday. I don't know what you have, but I want to offer a few suggestions that I think are incredibly important:
1. This is not normal. You need to make an appointment with a gynecologist (and I stress this, as your normal family or woman's doctor is NOT a gynecologist, so do your research and find someone in your area that you feel comfortable with) to hopefully start finding a solution to this problem; don't be shy: go with a list of questions, and with your issue thoroughly laid out.
2. You're a woman now, and it's time for you to get informed about your body. The internet is a wonderful tool, but I suggest going to the bookstore and picking up some books to help you understand your anatomy, common infections/diseases women face, etc.
3. Don't give up. If doctors cannot find the cause to your itching, consider holistic approaches: herbs, acupuncture, etc. Keep experimenting with diet changes, get tested for allergies, do whatever you can. People who are dedicated to finding a way to combat their issue generally do. Good luck!Comment
