Vulva Biopsy
After 5 weeks of constant stinging and burning pain in the vulva with red lines present I went to a GU clinic last night. The doctor was really nice and said as I'd already had swabs done and cultures grown that showed nothing he thought this might be an autoimmune problem (I've got joint problems and allergies etc as well) and wants me to go to a bigger clinic an hour away to have a biopsy taken. I won't lie, I'm terrified of the whole biopsy procedure and wondered if anyone had any good advice regarding this? I already plan to take some painkillers before I have it but I can't take many because I have to drive there and back, anything anyone can tell me would be greatly appreciated. My appointment is on 30th March. -
I had one years ago, I like imagine they are more sophisticated now, it was no big deal. In my case I had some hyperpigmentation (dark area) on my labia. They just numbed the area a little, took a snip, really couldn't put a band aid there
. I don't recall any pain with it, not a big deal. You'll be fine.

Thanks, that's a really reassuring reply! One of my friends said to make sure I ask for the gel that numbs the area before they inject the local or the local will be the worst bit about it so I'm going to try and get that. Did you have stitches? I've read online sometimes they do stitch and sometimes they don't and I'm just thinking about the sitting down for the hour long drive home.Comment
