I am undergoing a hysterectomy with removal of ovary and tube (one is already gone due to cysts) in 2 weeks. The doctors have basically said it helps some women and it doesn't help others. One physician told me that it is more related to removal of the ovaries vs. the uterus. I have waited and tried other options for some time- different meds, just dealing with it. Since I have enough sick time, vacation time and personal time to cover the medical leave it is now time to deal with this surgically and hopefully gain relief. I'm scared of the menopause symptoms and hope I'm making the right decision. I will never know until I do it though which is scary in its own right. It just makes sense that if the organ is causing you problems removing it should help alleviate those same problems.
