    horrible menstrual cycle!

I have been on my period for about 2 months now. I've had this before (up to four months!) and I just can't take it anymore. I am on reclipsen and while that really helped my cycle before, it is not helping me at all now. I just can't take it anymore and I'd like to know if there's any way I can stop my period! I have a doctors appointment on Monday but I can't get in to my gyno any time soon so I just need some relief. Anyone know any tricks? Maybe even know what sort of thing causes this? Thanks!

I feel your pain and find it very odd for your period to last 2-4 months! That is like a continual nightmare. I do not know what causes this, but I suspect it is hormonal related for sure (not that this helps). Here are some simple tips that may help at least lighten your period:

    A. Do you eat a lot of dairy products? Eliminate all of them. Substitute with almond milk if you need milk.

    B. Do you eat a high fat diet? If so, incorporate more veggies and fruits.

    C. Are you on other medications besides "recilipsen?"

    D. How old are you?

I want to help you, but need more information.

I started taking the combined contraceptive pill to regulate my periods which were coming at odd times all through the month, heavy, light, I could never leave the house without sanitary wear in my bag! I've heard some women on this forum say their doctor gave them the combined contraceptive and told them not to take the break week or placebo pills so they didn't have a bleed. Personally, I like to have a period to know I'm healthy (and unfertilised!) but in your position I might think differently!
Every passing minute is another chance to turn it all around.

Some women have had good results by drinking red raspberry leaf tea or using red raspberry leaf supplements. I have a friend that swears by this stuff. Google "heavy menstruation, red raspberry leaf," and see if it's something you might want to try.

Also, could you possibly have a fibroid? I know that that can cause excessive bleeding.
