Endometriosis Treatment.....Is there an alternative to the Hormone Shot (Lupren Depot

I had a partial hysterectomy in Feb '12 due to having small holes in my uterus. In April '12, I developed Endometriosis for the first time in my life. I had surgery in May '12 to remove the adhesions and endometriosis. In July '12, it was back again. The pain was so bad I had surgery again a few weeks ago, Sept. '12. My doctor has suggested I go on Lupron Depot shots to slow the progression.

I read the information packet and researched reviews online for this drug and did not like the side effects. I already have asthma, and this medication can make that worse. I already get migraines, I take a preventer every day to stop them and migraines are a side effect. The side effect that worries me the most is depression and mood swings. I have battled depression in the past and I never want to go through that again. In fact, the literature states that those with a history of depression need to be closely watched.

In light of those side effects, I do not want to try this treatment plan. Has anyone else found anything that helps the pain or knows of alternatives to the hormone shots? Anything would be helpful. I do not want to keep having to have surgery to relieve the pain, especially since it does not seem to last long. Thank you!

    I kinda know this feeling...

So im only 20 - I have had severe pain, bleeding etc since i was 10/11... i have been told i have IBS, Grumbiling Appendix... until a couple of years ago. My sister is 14 years older than me, and a few years ago was diagnosed with Endometriosis... and now cannot have children, with 4 failed IVF treatments to prove it. They now are sure thats what i have - but it was never found at my sister at this age - so they dont want to put me through the surgery.. which is fair enough...

Instead they are putting me on all sorts of tablets and injections to 'prevent'.. or 'slow it down' is leaving me unsure whether im coming or going. The side effects can be horrible - i wont lie - but they do help the pain quite considerably - but its whether that outweighs the side affects.. mood change, weight change.. you literally feel a different person (in my personal opinion)

Worst part - the specialist said - 'we will leave you on these tablets, until you decide to have a family - then we will see if theres a problem'...

Ive now been referred to another specialist and the appointment is next week.. Let hope this one takes me seriously!

I almost think that I'd rather have the pain than the side effects. I go back on the 5th so we will see what happens then.
