    Unusual Situation ...

I am 50 years old , in good shape and am a mom to 6 grown kids. I have had some health problems but nothing like this ever until recent years and no one to ask .
I dont want to be judged but I have a rather strange question. For many years now I have had a husband and a lover. They know about each other and we spend time together, but do NOT have sex together. This occurs separately. Under the circumstances I am sure I am the only one for each of them in the last 10 years . I adore both and we all get along. The problem is that when I have sex with my husband , the smell later is horrendous , terrible fishy smell .So bad I have to wash my gown or whatever I have on . I thought it was BV , was tested neg but still took flagyl anyway. This does not help . I do NOT have this smell with my lover ever. He does not have this smell ever either.
    What is going on ??
My husband is european , uncircumsized but washes very well before. My lover is always clean , American and circumsized. We are all 49- 50 . Does anyone have any idea about whats causing this.. I use rephresh as a lubricant with my husband and that seems to stem the smell somewhat .. very strange thing . The Dr. cannot find anything wrong with any of us .

In the FAQs about Rephresh it talks about vaginal pH balance. Sperm is basic (pH of 7.1 - 8.0) whereas the vagina is acidic (pH of around 4 is good). Too much sperm can upset the balance. Water, douching and menstruation can all upset the pH balance. In your case, does your husband have large ejaculations and your lover have lesser ones? Also, does your husband do a good job of pulling back the foreskin when washing so as to not leave any trapped bacteria which could be carried over from time to time?

The cleanliness with my husband DID used to be an issue . He thought we( Americans) were OVER clean ,,but it became so rough on me I had finally had to wash it myself with Jergans or Pure and Natural to SHOW him what it was going to take to be clean enough to not cause just a trainwreck down below . We met in Europe and that smell began immediately. His foreskin IS very tight and you really have to make an effort to really clean it , my lover finally got onto him about it and it changed a great deal after that little talk , but that's been sometime ago . Other than that the only difference I notice is that husbands is far more watery . Its a shame that you have to do so much preparation before AND after and still I notice it somewhat if I don't get right in the bath and wash.. whereas with my lover it can be spontaneous out in a vineyard somewhere and nothing .. and there certainly is no bathtub around there I can use within 5-10 minutes . An irrigation system maybe .. but you know what I mean. I figured it was a chemistry / Ph thing , but Id sure like it to stop. I do NOT douche. I've been too afraid of making it worse . Not to say I wouldn't if someone had a better idea, but normally I don't.

Have things gone downhill since the talk? If your husband's general idea is that a lot of cleaning is not necessary, it could be he has backslid on his attention to detail. Maybe a refresher would help. Personally, I am like your lover instead of your husband in that detail.
