Bleeding between periods. 1-2 weeks before period. What's going on here?

About 3 weeks ago, I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend and didn't pull out. About 2 weeks later, I started bleeding down there about every few days. It mainly happens late night/early morning. It wasn't enough for a period, but I started to have period like symptoms (such as bloating, more hunger, joint pains in the legs, mood swings, etc). I also have some itchiness as well (mild, but still annoying). At first, I thought I was pregnant, but I took a pregnancy test and it was negative. Now, I'm starting to think this is something else. Maybe it's just stress, or maybe I have an infection. Help me out, y'all! Has any of this happened to you?

PS: I'm not on birth control either

I would get to a doctor and get tested for a couple of things. The first of course would be a STD, next in line would be thrush or yeast infection. What concerns me is the bleeding. To me this sounds as if you have a small cyst that has broken or if the sex was particularly rough you may have broken the skin in your vagina. Either way you'll want to know so you can fix it or avoid this in the future.
That which we forget may as well never really happened.

Thank you! That was really helpful. Yeah, we can get a little rough while having sex so it would make sense if some skin broke. I'm going to see someone ASAP, I doubt it's anything serious, but you never know. Thanks again!

Bleeding between periods, especially following unprotected sex, can have various causes, including hormonal imbalances, stress, or infections. While a negative pregnancy test is reassuring, it's advisable to consult a healthcare professional to rule out any underlying issues, such as a sexually transmitted infection, and address your symptoms appropriately.
