    Eros Therapy Device

My GYN gave me a prescription for an Eros Therapy Device. I have had low libido and arousal problems for over 6 months. This device is supposed to increase blood flow to my clitoris and genitalia. I didn't want to get it but I'm at the end of my rope and willing to try anything. My low libido is ruining my marriage.

I'm sure my husband, who has a puritan approach to sex, wouldn't approve of me using this device. So I'm going to hide it from him, at least until I see if it helps.

Does anyone have any experience with these devices? I'll pick it up tomorrow and start the therapy. My GYN said it would probably take about 2 weeks to notice any difference.

Chaya, Eros therapy is for women who have had some type of damage to their vessals and can't get enough engorgement/blood flow to the genitals to feel/reach orgasm. It helps develop new blood vessels. From all your posts I have read, that doesn't seem to be your problem. It sounds more like desire issues for you. You are capable of having an orgasm. That shows that your blood vessels are workigng correctly. I am not a healthcare provider, but I work with physicians and have seen enough of them prescibe therapy that isn't right for the situation because they don't have anything else to offer. There is not medication for desire issues, that is probably why your physician offered Eros, but I doubt it will work for you.

From what I have read from your posts, your issues has a lot to do with lack of foreplay. There is a theory about the female sexual reponse cycle that claims women do not feel desire like men. They desire intimacy and therefore are open to sexual interactions. The foreplay gets them aroused and creates desire. This is not true for every woman but it may be the case for you. You are not getting to desire because your husband doesn't provide any forplay to arouse any desire.

Before trying to use this expensive device, try just increasing foreplay in the bedroom. 20 minutes of foreplay should be a guideline to go by.

I'd go one step further and say 20 minutes of foreplay, not necessarily done in the bedroom. It should be an all day things, with a quick telephone call during the day, some hugs, some kisses throughout the day and then foreplay where-ever you are and continue on in the bedroom later.
That which we forget may as well never really happened.

Perspective from a health professional and sexual woman

Although the device is being marketed as "FDA Cleared", it is through the 510k pathway and as a class 1 device. The bar for proving efficacy is far lower than for a drug or biologic or more strict class III devices. Clearance of this device only need to show safety and no more effectiveness than a previously cleared predicate, which may be none.
However, they do show at least some real data supporting the claim, which is far more than any company will do for the many other gadgets and toys on the market. For this, it deserves some credit and a try.
When I turned thirty I had my doctor prescribe it for me. I was concerned about my sex drive and the intensity of my orgasms and felt it was time I spend some deliberate effort on developing them. I've always used various toys since I can remember, but they never really made a difference other than the pleasure. He suggested using it slowly and 3-4 times a week until I got comfortable with it then gradually work up to daily orgasm using it. Once there, I should try and stick with it for at least 3 months before passing judgement.
The good thing about it is that it is gentle and non-intrusive, small, so you can use it more frequently than other toys and you can more easily keep up the exercises. So it easily fits into one's daily routine. The stimulation is partly suction, not just all friction, which means it is not as rough on you as other devices. The suction did increase my blood flow without the need for so much effort and friction, and did wonders preparing me for my orgasms. More over, the area remained flush and aroused for a while thereafter, which helped when I wanted another orgasm transition to intercourse with my husband. Both my pleasure and my need has definitely increased. I was not able to achieve this with other toys.
For me, I'll practice with it to orgasm at the end of my morning aerobics. In the evening, I'm ready for intercourse when the moment is right, which we always enjoy a few times a week. Otherwise, I'll enjoy another orgasm on my own in the evenings. My orgasms are stronger and I have begun to experience multiple orgasms which I rarely had before. It has helped me enhance and increase both masturbation and intercourse so it has given me what I was looking for.

          Great testimonial.

Great information Martha. My Fiancé had a similar problem for years. Her orgasms were weak and few yet she had strong desire. This left her urges unsatisfied no matter how hard she tried. I love her and wanted to see her happy so we tried things but it was not until her doctor prescribed the device that she noticed a difference. She has been doing the exercises once to twice a day, which brings her to orgasm. After 4 months she has attained a point where she is able to reach a strong orgasm during every intercourse. She will sometimes have multiple. Even with regular intercourse several times a week, we both make sure she still keeps up her daily exercises. This can become a chore and she was concerned she would slack off. So to help her maintain her routine, she joined a support group of similar women on-line where they can share their experiences and even do the exercises together. She loves it.
