    Dating on Second Shift

I've worked second shift for about 5 years and really feel like it is really hard to date while working an off shift. I'm dating a guy right now, but I feel like it's not progressing very fast because we only see each other about once a week at the most since our schedules are so off. I'm also a little worried that he might not be interested after a while since we can't see each other very often. Anyone else have to deal with this and does anyone have any advice?

Is it possible to meet him in the day for lunch or does that cut right into your sleep time? Or could he meet you for dinner or whatever meal you are eating? If you are both interested in making this work, could you each take a half day off here and there to spend time together?

If a man is really interested in you, he will do whatever is necessary to make it work. It's that simple.

For some reason, I actually see your dating condition better because you could sift off the kind of guy who would truly prove worthy of you. Given your schedule, relationship (if any) would progress slow, hence you'll get to know the man's character better. If you rush on that, you'd probably end up with a loser. Take your time.

Thanks for the comments, I feel better about it I feel like I have to get to the point where we are calling it a relationship, because that is what I want. I will just try not to rush things though. Also, he lives pretty far so I know he is making an effort to see me so that shows that he is interested. It does make it pretty impossible though to get together on one anothers lunch/dinner breaks though. He has come up here in the morning a few times on the weekend before I work so that is a good sign.

Hi Daisy, welcome to the Forum...

Yes, I loved my job as well..

You have choices, the first one? Is if you find someone that you really fall for and feel that he's the one, and he allows you to continue your career and is still there for you, then you have to make decisions of change....

If not, then he wasn't meant to be but I would never state to anyone, that you will not change your career or job, or hours.... see what happens instead...

Failing that you have to find someone within that industry that also works like you do and that's a hard call, although we do, it's limited as to who, type, and often the wrong person 4 years later
