    what to say when..

how would you react if your guy friend would always tell you that he can't help thinking of you.
And is always thinking of you?

I think it depends on the relationship...

Do you have a sense that the feelings are mutual? Is there the potential for a relationship, moving past just being friends.

If the feelings were mutual, it would be nice to hear. If the feelings were not mutual, I'm not sure how I would feel. It may make me want to pull back because I would get a sense he wants to be more than friends and if I didn't, then I'd feel like there would need to be some distance placed there.

Like LB says, it totally depends on the situation. Does this guy have a girlfriend? If so, I'd not take him comments very seriously at all, and as a matter of fact I'd ask him not to say things like that as long as he has a girlfriend. If not, and you share his same feelings and really like him too, you might as well tell him you feel the same way. If you do not feel the same way, I think it might be a good idea to have a talk with him and let him know exactly where you stand.

As a guy, I think your friend is "testing the water" about taking your friendship to the next level or at least his interest in doing so.

Clearly, IMO, he is trying to gauge how you feel and if you feel the same way. If you do, let him know. If you don't, let him know that too.

It's difficult when you find that you have feelings for a close friend, that are stronger then just wanting to be friends, because you don't want to risk losing the friendship.

Bottom line: He's trying to find out how you feel about him without risking the loss of your friendship. (IMO)
