    A bit confused.

    Hello there!

A while ago I got out of a bad relationship (over two years with the guy and he was sort of "cheating" on me online with other women, and admitted he has a problem). A short period of four months passed and I met my current boyfriend. He is much younger than me, about eight years (I'm almost thirty) so I was reluctant but he pursued me, woo'd me, etc etc. I eventually caved (sounds bad haha, I was starting to fall for him) and agreed to be his girlfriend, he said he was so happy he could call me his girlfriend. The honeymoon stage was two weeks and we were both quite happy, but I knew it would slow down. I like communication and have told him this. He had to go away to another state for college, and I totally understand our communication could and would be limited.

We play online games together so we can do some things together with the distance, and I suggested we could watch movies and shows online at the same time, as if we were watching it together. Well, the decline in communication started, no texts and I did see him online, he was playing with friends. Still, ok...but then last week I asked what he was up to, and he said nothing he was bored. Not once did he ask me to play any of the games together or watch something, he just sat idle on the game. I suggested we could play something and he said sure, so we started. Not 25 minutes later, he said he had to go, so I said sure, thank you for the fun time! (not sarcastic, as I did have fun and he said he did as well). Days later, same response that he was bored...why can't he ask to play with me? I know not all guys like talking, but maybe watch a show or movie? I was getting a bit upset, as this was the response I kept getting (and if I didn't respond to him within 10 minutes, he got upset and thought I was mad at him, when I was just busy and got to him within 30 minutes of receiving a text). Last night after not much talking all day, he texted briefly to say he finished a season of the show we were watching together...without me. He continues it today.

I don't know if he's just selfish, playing me, or oblivious to his hurtful behavior. I did talk to him and he apologized a few times, saying he shouldn't do that, but that's about it. I don't understand why he would give up after over two months, when he fought so hard to win me over. I do not mind him being busy or hanging out with friends, heck I'm all for that, but a quick text to say that would be nice, and not doing the things I want to do without me. He continues to say he loves me, but I just don't know what to say any more. I apologize for this being a bit long and rant-y, but I'm just baffled at this behavior. A few ex's did this as well, so I said goodbye...but none courted me like this guy did. He says he does not want this to end, but wants to try harder...yet I haven't seen an improvement.

Sounds to me like hes bored with the relationship. Maybe he's not handling the long distance relationship very well. Maybe he's found an interest in a classmate? I don't think you both had much of a chance to develop a true relationship before he moved.

I am sorry for your previous relationship and glad that, that is over now...

IDK sometimes we settle straight away, as you state only 16 weeks went by and this younger guy persued you and you agreed.

I think that it's fair to say that there is nothing wrong with younger and older at all, but sometimes it does depend on their commitment well it does all depend.

He's 22 in college. You are 30 and away from him, you like communication so why isn't he texting you daily? Talking to you on the telephone.....

You also mentioned the honey moon stage was over in 2 weeks.

I think perhaps he had a crush, perhaps liked the idea of an older woman but I think he is happier with his "mates" and has gone cold on the idea personally....

I also think that you should honestly sit back if you do decide to leave and get out there and do things you like, your passions without a relationship so that you are not by a computer or TV rather living and finding yourself, for your future boyfriend who will have simularities with you, take you out for dinner, hug you, love you and things you do and what you are about, visa versa .

Thank you both very much for your response. I know this is going to sound a bit odd, but all my friend's are married with children and do not want to talk about this kind of stuff, and I moved to a new city where I do not know any one, so I appreciate the feedback.

I agree with what you both say. That's too bad, but I wish I understood why someone would act like that towards another.
