Is there a clear distinction? How about food stamps and Section 8 housing for the poor?I don't understand your point. Many of the laws you mentioned (against killing, stealing, bearing false witness) may also be moral issues, but first and foremost, they are necessary laws for the protection of people to live together in a community. There is a clear distinction between those kind of laws and "pure" morality laws against prostitution and alcohol. These activities are not inherently necessary for a community to succeed but societal or religious morals provide the basis for laws against them. As we have seen, such "morality laws" completely fail to eradicate (or even slow down) the behavior. I do agree that religious zealots have way more political power than they should.
Are they really necessary for society to function or just morally desired by most in society?
How about the 55 miles per hour speed limit or any speed limit for that matter?
I throw out these questions not to be difficult but to merely point out the obvious:
Morality is in fact legislated all the time every where and sometimes that's a good thing but not always...
Depending of course on your point of view.
For instance, I don't think drugs should be legally outlawed just socially discouraged.
That is no one, in my opinion, should be indicted or prosecuted or imprisoned for being addicted.
But if you drive high then you get a DUI.
If you're a heroin addict then you don't get custody of your kid...
And you can be discriminated against in housing and employment.
But so long as you don't bother anyone else...you should be left alone and your privacy respected.
I feel the same way about prostitution...it should be decriminalized but socially discouraged.
I put it into the same category as pornography....I just wouldn't encourage anyone to work in it.
Anymore than I would encourage anyone to work in a sweat shop or coal mine....life is short...so why trifle with it?
But it's your life...not mine....and neither I nor anyone else should have legislative say over it.Comment

I do understand that many women do not feel comfortable with porn for a variety of reasons however I do agree with some of the people who stated that they do it willingly because this is their career that made some of them successful and make a living. But my question for you is what about the men who enter the porn industry? Would their large penises be considered toys for women who watch porn as well?
I do support the fact that women should be independent strong and respected but in this case and in my opinion most of them do it with their free will.Comment

I can say in general I don't like porn because it's only made for men.
If pornographic films were made by women and for women , we would have the choice: 50% of films for women and 50% men fims, but this is not the case.
Most of the movies meet the needs of guys:
- Close-ups of woman (her breasts and vagina)
- Men are ugly the most of the time and non-existent (we don't see them much)
- And this is very often degrading to women. This is not what makes us dream!!
This is not fair! Things must change... I hope!
Otherwise I recently discovered a porn site for free woman!
There are soft porn videos and the content is pretty good! There are also sex guides.
Have fun
