I'm clueless... could use a little advice.

Well for starters, this is a forum for woman, and I am a male... but! I figured I could use a females advice on the situation. Just so we aren't confused. Also, it is kind of a long story, but if you take the time to read it and give me some informative insight, it will be vastly appreciated. Thanks in advance. (sorry again for the length)

Well first of all, I'm not one for casual relationships or whatever nor just quick flings and what have you. Not that I haven't had them in the past, but I've learned from my mistakes. This girl I met, I met her about 4 years ago. Instantly we had a very strong connection, from the first day I called her we have been inseperable. We both knew we had a huge crush on each other, it was very obvious. Everyone else saw it, we saw it, but we chose to not acknowledge it. Wasn't a problem though, our friendship was so strong that nothing got in our way, eventually leading to the best friend I've had. During those years, she went through two boyfriends, one for about two years and the other for a little over a year. Both guys were total douchebags, I never liked em, and I knew they weren't right for her. Of course both of them fell apart. One turned to a crazy ex-boyfriend type, and the other was the stalking type *cringe*. Sadly, she almost moved away with the latter of the two. She later came to realize that would be a mistake, and moved to the town where I'm located!

Well, her and the "stalker" broke up a mere month before she moved to my location. She said she wasn't affected by it, and I believed her, knowing he was a douche and that they didn't belong. Then all of the sudden, we were both single! Both in the same town! And both minutes away for something we merely thought could never be... and it happened.

We both knew that we were in this for each other, and wanted our shot to see if we knew we could be the couple we dreamed of. Let me tell you, the first few weeks were some of the best weeks of my life. Finally I have grabbed a hold to something, that truly makes me happy in every sense of the word. And she was seemingly in a state of greatness. Well, our relationship built up at an alarming rate. It was just a matter of a couple weeks until we finally had sex. It wasn't awkward, it wasn't painful, it wasn't wrong. It was 100% right, and felt rightfuly so, we both agreed. This state of bliss went on for a couple a month or so.

So here we both are, finally realized something great. I'm still sitting up on Cloud 9, when I gradually notice she has slowly been slipping through the clouds. All of the sudden, the bliss wasn't there. She started becoming increasingly distant and wasn't eager to see me as much (mind you I still was). When we did get together, I could tell she was hoping I wouldn't try to do anything physical. She didn't want to have sex anymore, she didn't even want to fool around. A quick kiss was about all that it would go to. I didn't mind I guess, I'm not in this for the sex, it is great don't get me wrong, but I like the person she is more so. So I asked her about it, and she told me that she doesn't want anymore sex and what have you. I said, that is fine! I won't push anything on you. And I didn't.

Still though, she would treat me with less affection and not seem to give a **** about my life, this went on for a few weeks. I was still completely blown away that any of this has happened. One day, I was very stern with her and said we need to talk. I sat her down, and told her everything on my mind. That I was being taken for grantid, and I don't deserve to be treated this way (I'm not cocky, but I consider myself a very pure and genuine guy). She broke down in tears, and fully agreed. She knew what she was doing, and she was doing it on purpose. She had said she was confused as of late, what to do with her life (we are both in our early twenties). I completely sympathize with her, because I know what it is like and I'm still in a situation. The only thing I'm sure about, is that I love this girl and I would do anything to keep her in my life. Anyways, I gave her an ultimatum. I said I'm going to stop talking to you, and cut myself out of your life until you realize what it is you fully want. And if you are happy without me, then so be it, but if you want me in your life as much more than a friend, I will be eagerly waiting.

Well that lasted for about a week. The seperation was extremely painful for both of us, but I eventually gave in to her rampant texting and we started hanging out. But I told her, I'm not going to put up with anymore that I had to go through before. She was very earnest in saying, that she was dumb for doing that and she won't do it again. But she still won't call me her boyfriend, and doesn't consider us an official couple. She said these things take time. And that she doesn't want anything sexual right now. Which... I'm completely lost. Why? We have been best friends for many many years, and we know each other to the max. So now we are stuck in this awkward couple thing. And I don't know what to do. I feel like I'm being played, I can't and won't go back to being just friends... we've crossed that line and Iwe've both seen what we can share together, and it is the ultimate! My feelings for her, are literally indescribable... and they will always be like that, but if she wants to be just friends. Knowing that my feelings won't have room in her life, would just be too painful for me. So anyways, I'm very patient, and will wait for her to figure this out.

I worry though, that I will wait all this time to only figure out that she will turn her back on me... and I don't want that. But in the meantime, we hang out and have fun just like we've always done, she knows for a fact she loves me, and me her. I don't push her into anything sexual either, I'm very good about it. I even try to stay away from kissing her, not sure why, but I guess it is just me being fussy. Even though she will still gladly kiss me goodnight.

Anyways, that is the whole story. Right now I'm sitting at a very unsetteling point in our relationship, and I'm not sure what to do. And I don't want to press her about it, I have in the past and she is just generally confused, and I don't want to keep pressuring her for answers about us. So if ANY of you guys, and I mean ANY could give me some useful advice about this, I would be eternally greatful for making a young guy like me sleep a little easier. Thank you for reading this longwinded topic. I really do appreciate it.

Wow, what a let down. All I can say right now is if you really want this, give it time. She may be feeling that it's too good to be true and at some level be afraid of losing you. She's retreated to a safer feeling place. There probably wasn't enough time for her to really deal with the aftermath of the last relationship. Sometimes we get scared and don't even know why. Some of us sabotoge ourselves. Being strong and tender and letting her know you will continue to be there but can't wait forever is probably best. We can't control others, only ourselves.

Hrrm, yeah that is the conclusion I have reached. Even though I just get confused everytime I see her. On the outside, she looks like nothing is troubling her... and I suppose I do too, but I guess the best thing is time. I'm just not sure when I want to confront her about it again. I will just never EVER understand what happened between us. When I think about it, I get very angry and hostile towards her, because out of the blue she just scorned me for nothing. *sigh* I will keep you guys up to date I suppose if any major breakthroughs happen.

We all go through it, had a relationship I really thought might be 'it'. You know. the one of a life time. He just plugged into some script he has for himself about how he sabotoges relationships, they don't last, if they do he gets hurt. There it went, down the tubes. You have to take a deep breath, hold your head up and keep going no matter how bad it hurts. Give her time, if she's the one, you'll be glad, if she isn't at least you won't be wondering, what if years later.

Well, if anyone of you guys were following the story, I guess I can tell you the conclusion. Also I would like to thank for whomever read this and replied. Well things were going pretty good. We both took off for Christmas break to our respective homes end she left with a kiss and an "I love you". Since we were in different towns I didn't get to see her for a couple weeks. She umm... well ended up going back to her old boyfriend who is the stalker creepy guy, and left me in the dust. I talked to her last night, and basically summed up how horrible of a person she is for doing that, and yadayada she has no heart and I will never see her for as long as I live nor talk to her. Which is incredibly hard, I just lost my bestfriend (for 3 years) /lover to some massive douche. And am pretty much torn to bits right now. So much time wasted.

What a tough time for you. Many of us here can sympathize with believing in something so strongly and then having it suddenly turn upside down.

Being mad is fine...it's normal....for a while. After a while, you've got to continously tell yourself that you're not angry anymore, because the cold hard truth is at this point, she's gone and the only one the anger hurts is YOU...the one least deserving of one more ounce of hurt. You'll feel rejected..."why did she choose him over me?" ...you'll question yourself..."what is wrong with me?"...... but the truth is in what you typed above. The issues with her had been going on for quite some time. She pushed you and pushed you to leave, because she was too cowardly to do it herself. And clearly she doesn't want to be alone.

You've told her your feelings toward her and what she has done to your feelings.....and now it's time to go through the healing process and DON'T allow yourself to become another "ex" she labels as crazy, stalker, etc. If you call her, text her or try to contact her, just remember that she's likely telling him the same things. Cease the contact.

There are lots of people out there who will handle your heart carelessly. Those people aren't worth it....no one is. The ones who are, will cherish you for the passionate person that you are.

It's not wasted time. Believe it or not, sooner or later, and probably sooner rather than later, you will look back on this and see so many lessons learned. Give yourself time, you're going to learn SO much and grow so much and some day you'll be thankful for every experience.

              Hang in there.....

Thanks for the kind words. Curious though, I mean she has honestly been on the biggest parts of my life for the past many years. And just like that she is now gone, with her knife left in my back. It hurts alot, and today is the first full day I haven't talked to her in like 2 years. It is really awful. I tell myself all day that I hate her and I wish bad things to come of her, but it is hard. At times I find it sooo diffucult to cope with that. Not a few days ago, she was why I got excited and who I could say I love you to. Now it is just filled with hate. Part of me tells me that I could find someone completely better, but I had the strongest connection with her out of any other girl I've met. So the other part is hoping she comes crawling back to me in a very demeaning way. Not that I would take her back right away, but I felt my shot with her was cut too short because of her selfish and shortsighted behaviour. Any thoughts?

At some point in time this "douche" will let her down yet again... for some reason, she had feelings that she could not let go of... "Treat them mean, keep them keen " comes to mind..

No doubt he has continually played cards.

You showed you. And in such, you showed a man, real love, commitment, honesty, loyalty, what she wanted from him... but he had a "mean streak as well" and as such, she liked that, never knowing if she could "win or not" and so she won....

I am thinking purely youth here, as i am 45... as to why....

What she really needed to decide, pick, chose was you... She chose him only because she couldn't have him and she now thinks she can, until he plays on her, breaks her heart.

Have no idea why young women do this, and I am sorry for saying this but you are asking, i am mature been there, and i will state, what i know, remember.

A guy like you? The only one to have... the only.

Youth? If they have had the mill, they will run to it to succeed, as i said don't know why.

The facts are... It won't last, she will regret, she will come back, she will say sorry, she will realise..

Fact, don't you deserve better? If that happens?

It is a shame, you gave your heart and soul ...

It hurts, i know and i am sorry.

It's hard to comprehend because you are a good person and she should realise.

Let me say this, she needs to really "crash and burn first" it wasn't totally over before she met you does that make sense? And, so that wonder made her wonder, the book isn't closed yet.

                  But it will be.

And, not far down the track.

It's true.....I'm 25 and it was only a few years ago that I could identify with this "need to win". She (much like your own feelings right now)felt rejected by him for whatever it was he did to cause an end to their relationship. She too probably felt, "what is wrong with me that he can't love and treat me right?". So, he came crawling back in some sort of way, and she won, or so she thought. I did this too, the guy out of nowhere left me, no explanation, no nothing. I had no idea what was going on, but I felt that itmust be something about me he didn't like. I was rejected. Only a few months later he came back, begging and pleading saying he was "Scared" of what we had. I had won, and delightfully took him back. I stayed with him for another year, only to find out that from month 1, he had been cheating on me with his ex. I also found out that that first time he left out of the blue was because of his ex.

Much like her need to win him back, you're feeling that same need. Point is, those who aren't playing the game, can never win. And truthfully, this is a situation in which losing is actually winning.

You'll miss her, and it's going to be hard. But you'll get through it. Be strong, and focus on you.
