Isn't awesome though to be able to come here and vent, voice your concern and have everyone confirm what you knew already that there was no need to worry? I think being able to come here and do the exact same thing has saved me so many little insecure moments that I would have shared with him at the expense of him thinking I'm needy and instead I was able to handle them on my own with help , here.

Your guy sounds like something special going through all that. Just last year I had zero faith in men, I had 0 faith in love and here I am a happy camper at least at this hour tonight, and its all that I can ask You got your beautiful card, and it made you happy - dont let some guy friend put any thoughts in your head.

Ive learned some people even that care about you can stir a pot that doesn't need stirring.
Scars remind us of where we've been...they don't have to dictate where we're going.

Sometimes my boyfriend will say things to me that melt my heart and literally make me gitty with happiness. Other times he will be short and to the point and I'm left wanting more. I'm learning the emotional differences between men and women through my relationship and I think so is he. He's learned more and more what I need to feel secure and gives it to me often, and even then sometimes I want more because I tend to be emotionally greedy, feed me more lol.

I think you are right to want more from him than what he said, but at least you were able to rationalise his thought process, and you are probably right on the money. He was drunk and probably did his level best to get that text out as short and snippy as it was.

He took a picture of it, I think he cherished it, to himself and likely knew you knew he did and felt confident that what he said was fine for the moment. I am sure when he talks to you again hes gonna gush about it for hours, it really was a smart, thoughtful, original and caring gift.

Haha... I know! Cloud 9 and floating on.

I have that emotionally greedy "problem" if you will, as well. I think it's because that's really all we have at this point because of the distance. There isn't that everyday or every week physical aspect.

When this whole Valetine's thing came up and he said he didn't think that his card would live up to mine I told him, "All I need is your love and to tell me you love me all of the time as well as some attention." He laughed and said that I was awesome. It's true though... I'm so easy to please. Sometimes I feel like I'm too easy. He's not used to having such a mellow, laid back girlfriend but I wouldn't change who I am for anything.

Thanks for your words. I'm really feeling A LOT better!

Yes, I'm so glad that I found this site! It's helped me get some things off of my chest as well as just use it as a way to relax. It's great to have some people who understand and give good advice. I don't know ANY women in my personal life besides my mom and one girlfriend who doesn't even live in the same state as me. It sucks! I don't have anyone to turn to. I'm surrounded by men.

Mhm... He is something special. Definitely! I'm all giddy over here now.

It does sound like you have a good relationship. It also sounds like you really pumped yourself up about this puzzle and you were very pleased with yourself for creating it. I kind of think that you were expecting his reaction to be exposive, and when it wasn't what you expected, you got disappointed. I would say...leave it alone. Could you imagine your conversation with him when he calls, and you nag and nag and nag about how his reaction wasn't good enough for you etc...etc...etc.whine, whine, whine? He is going to think you are a high maintenace wack job. DON'T do it!

              Update

After talking about this thread with a friend and what you guys said, I decided not to say anything. Then my phone rang and that changed. When I heard his voice I was really annoyed about the situation all over again. He asked me what I did last night (and because he didn't call like he was supposed to) I said, "You'd know if you would have called me." I knew that wasn't the right thing to say but I couldn't help myself. The words came out before I even thought about them. He got mad and then that made me mad. (It's usually the other way around) I told him that he didn't understand that what I did meant a lot to me and that I was really excited and I felt that he blew it off. (He was already having a bad day) He responded with, "I don't have time for this." I told him that he could just go then because he was a jerk. He said that he loved me and he would call me later and got off of the phone. I started crying because I didn't want to fight with him but my feelings were really hurt. So... About 10 minutes later I started my period. That explains EVERYTHING! Why I was so upset and even cried over this. I'm not typically like this.

5 hours passed and it was our usual call time so I called him. (He says I never call him) He didn't answer so I text his cell and said, "I want to you talk to you before you go to Mike's and before my company gets here. I have something to say to you and it's short and simple so call me back." He called me a couple of minutes later. (He hadn't seen the text. He just called like he said he would) He immediately said that he was really sorry about the way he reacted to the card and that he didn't give me proper acknowledgment. Then he apologized for being a jerk earlier in the day. He said he was sorry about 15 times. I know he was. He said that he never wants to make me cry and he loves me. Then he saw the text and started laughing which made me laugh. I had a little speech prepared and I told him so. He said if it will make me feel better than I can still give it to him because he was a jerk but I didn't.

              Awesome, right?

He called me when he got back from Mike's house and for some reason (my period) I kind of went off a little bit. Not yelling or anything (I've NEVER yelled at him) but I had let it go and then he said, "You're overly bent." That just made me so mad. I was silent at first and then said, "No you're just an sometimes." (I never call him names) We got into it and I said something in a funny but serious way. I said, "I think you just need to be punched or fall down the stairs." He laughed because he knew I was kidding and said, "Ahh, I'm just a guy. We don't get it sometimes." Then he went back to the falling down the stairs part and this guy he knew fell down the stairs and died. (He was a drunk) Typically on my period I'm not y but I will cry over stupid commercials and such well... The came out and I said, "Yeah he was a drunk too." So my boyfriend rightfully hung up on me. I couldn't believe I said that. I'm NEVER like this, EVER! So I called him back 4 times because I knew it'd wear him down and I could apologize. He picked up the phone laughing and he said that I was killing him. I apologized a few times because it was a really ****ty thing to say and he accepted. He said he knows that he was in the wrong for what he did and he understands. He also said this is why he hates Valentine's Day. The rest of the conversation after that was fine. We said out "I love you's" and I told him I'd call him in the morning before work.

Oh and I never told him I started my period but I will tomorrow because I don't want him to think that after 8 months I'm just a for no reason.

Anyways, that's the update. We're good now.

Oh I forgot you can't swear... I called him an A hole.

As for the other parts that are missing (about myself) it was the B word.
