my boyfriend is graduating (and I'm not)

Me and my boyfriend have been going out for over a year and in three days he is graduating high school. I'm still a junior so I've got one more year to go and I'm kind of glad because the "real world" is a scary place. lol. But anyway, since I'm in no hurry to leave HS and such I thought him graduating would be nothing. Just like "Oh I'm so proud of you. I'll miss you next year in school" but as I'm like watching graduation practice and such I start to get REALLY sad! Like they took a picture and he was in his cap and gown and I seriously almost cried! Pathetic!

I guess my reason for posting this is because I'm wondering how I'm going to do it next year. He's not going far away to college or anything but he'll be working full time probably (once he finds a full time job) so I won't:

    1) see him in school EVER
    2) see him outside of school as often as I do now

All this is like dawning on me out of no where! Is there anyone who has been/is in this situation or something similar? I feel like I have to be a big girl now and suck it up. Like is it time for me to grow up and accept that I wont be hanging out with my boyfriend that much and that I'm entering an "adult" relationship, even though I'm still in high school?

My daughter and her boyfreind have been together for 3 years. She just graduated from HS and graduated from community college. So for the past 2 years she was still in HS while he's been working and going to college. They went to her homecoming and prom by getting freinds who's bfs went to the same hs to get tickets for her bf since the freinds bfs could get their own. Realistically not a lot of couples stick together once one has graduated but it does happen.

This happened to me in High School. I was a Freshman and my boyfriend was a Senior. He gradutated and I never saw him at school anymore. At first it bummed me out because we would meet in the hallway during classes just to see each other. It was cute little things like that, that I missed.

He started college and I was obviously still in High School. However, we made the time to see each other. He would come over in the evenings and we would sit outside under the starts and just talk to each other. We'd get a blanket and cuddle up. Eventually I fell so hard for him (my first love) that I started sneaking out and skipping school just to be with him. DON'T DO THIS! It was a really big mistake in the long run. I ended up failing some courses but at the time I thought it was worth it.

You just have to realize that you two have separate lives and take advantage of that. When you get to spend time together it will be so much more meaningful and special to you.
