    discovered a secret?

Have you ever discovered a secret about someone you are close to? Did you ever tell them or did you keep your mouth shut?

I know quite a few secrets. Some told to me some I found out.

Some I would rather not know

Only one I have had to tell someone as it was a SERIOUS (legal and moral) burden

    Most I have never told

I judge secrets on a case by case basis.

    Ignorance is bliss

IS there something you wish to discuss, get off your chest?

I think the only case where I would reveal a secret is if protecting the information puts someone in clear and serious danger. So, I would not tell a secret about someone having an affair. I would tell a secret about someone poisoning (ongoing) their spouse. I would not tell a secret about a past crime unless it pointed to a present danger to others.

only the subject of what the secret is or if the secret is serious or potentially harmful to someone can depend on what you can do with it...you will know in your own head and heart if its a secret you can keep a secret or if its something so serious it needs 2 be addressed in whatever manner.

Some secrets (note I say secrets, not lies) are kept for some very good reasons. As the others mentioned, if it doesn't affect anothers safety or wellbeing, and if it doesn't affect how you feel for a person, then there is no need to divulge your new discovery.

No, I haven't discovered any.. probably because most people are more than happy to volunteer them.

But fortunately there's never been anything where I thought 'I don't want to know that!!'

Well, I don't necessarily need to get it off my chest, but I'll share anyway. One of my best friends is a bisexual guy, and we like each other (I have a couple of threads about this complicated situation, long story). The fact that he is bi is no secret, he openly shares it with all his friends.

I am building his website for him, and upon doing a little "research" on his chosen business name, I discovered something about him that both shocked and intrigued me (this happened a few months ago). Do any of you know what a "furry" is? Well, he is one, and the "yiffy" kind (meaning furry erotic stories and art). If you don't know what this is, google it. I came across some of his art and stories (under his furry alias, which I already knew). I told him that I found out about this, because I wanted him to be careful about mixing his professional and personal life. I also reassured him that I did not care that he is a furry, I don't judge people because of things like this, gave him a big hug and said it's ok, and it would not affect our friendship.

However, I did not tell him that I actually saw his erotic art and stories, I thought it might make him even more uncomfortable. But OMG were they HOTT!! Wow, those stories were steamy, despite the bad grammar. I re-read them on occasion, but wow when I first found them, what a shocker! It really turned me on, and made me want him even more. I kinda want to fulfill some of those fantasies of his... but, while he is still in a relationship, I have to wait and hold my tongue. I didn't know he had it in him, he's so kind and sweet... who would've thought? hehe...

Haha, I always like to say that no matter how 'prim and proper' or 'nice and sweet' someone tries to act, everyone has a wild freak somewhere inside of them.

Tex, I wish it were true, but I think some people really don't have a freaky side (mores the pity).

krystalin04 - i've also known people who didn't completely separate their work and private web sites. I have absolutely no objection to furries, or any other consensual activities, but there are things I really shouldn't know about co-workers, or worse people who work for me. Once you find out, its so difficult not to think of "Fred" as "the leather guy", rather than the talented software developer once you have run into something like that.

They're probably doing their best to keep it hidden. Women in particular, if they're told from little on that 'nice girls' don't behave a certain way.
