I'm not a nosey neighbour and I am sure she has friends, but I would go and knock on the door and ask if she's alright, that you heard a little not alot but was worried, sometimes we all need "someone", "anyone"....

    It's nice that you shared

It's just awful when people hurt each other like that. We blame men for being pigs and cheaters, that they are the ones with the "evolutionary instinct of wanting to impregnate as many women as possible" but then we do the same back. The fact he reacted like this tells me he's very hurt about it, that he loved her a lot but now everything's falling apart. Perhaps men aren't as much of 'pigs' as we make them out to be...

Men have their moments, as well as we do. And they also have some lovable sides we adore, at the same time, there are those who just don't fit.

I hope your lady neighbor is not hurt physically - with those broken glasses or any bodily contact.

Um, why didn't you call the police?????
What he did was domestic violence. I wonder if she was scared for her life and hoping someone had called.

In no way was he showing caring. He was showing dominance. Bullying behavior. Since when is destroying your personal property not acting like a pig?

If the tables were turned...if he'd cheated...would the response be the same? I don't think so...
Let's stop excusing what is clearly unacceptable behavior..????

IF she cheated, she knows the circumstances of why that came to be. Perhaps she wanted to escape him, perhaps he emotionally abuses her, perhaps he withholds sex, who can know?

I always go with better safe than sorry and call. Better the police than the coroner.

Although not necessarily a fight, something similar happened to my neighbor about a week ago. She lives alone since her daughter moved to college.

Long story short, I went to bed around 10 that nite. I had heard her music playing (was loud for her) but it wasn't a bother.

About an hour later the police were knocking at our door wanting to know if she was home. Her car was there but the music was off. I told the cops that I thought she was since for the 2 years we've lived there I never knew her not to drive when she went out.

Police kept banging and banging. Finally cops asked if we knew how to get a hold of her. We did have her number so I gave it to them. Apparently they couldn't get a hold of her. Seems someone had made a 911 call about possible overdose so cops broke in only to find an empty house.

She still hasn't said anything to us about it.

I understand European culture, I was bought up in it via my Mother's best friend and also my friends at school and then there was the first boyfriend and his family.

Definately very private and definately your neighbours as in the past, would have called the Police, I understand totally where your coming from and the shock as well as the thought pattern in your mind, on both accounts stressed.

Your comment of "I've been thinking about it alot"...

Do me a favour, make something and knock on her door and offer some to her, as a gesture, the time has passed now but it's never too late to be able to look at her and see how's she fairing and just be there for 10 mins.

It will make her know someone cares.

It will make you feel better inside, as obviously this bothered you immensely and it's a way of dealing with that, which you have to.
